Cherreads

Chapter 8 - Field Of Elderith[6]

Chris Vesna walked calmly, his feet crunching the damp soil as he walked, a strange and cheery tune coming out of his lips, the faint scent of blood wafting from him, the effect of the beast he had killed. He was now ranked third on the leaderboard. His humming was steady, almost cheerful, a strange contrast to the carnage he had left behind.

Not like he cared about who got first or second. All he ccared aboutwas passing the test. That was all.

He breathed the fresh air while whistling a soft tune. The slight breeze wafted through his aura and made it blow gently in the sunlight. Suddenly, a massive winged creature appeared, its bulbous red eyes emitting lasers as it immediately appeared. The creature was grotesque, sharp, rough bones jutting out of the massive furry wings. As it emitted the laser, it gave a shrieking sound similar to a banshee.

Chris swiftly dodged the lasers at the last second, casually leaning back his head as the lasers grazed his Adam's apple. The laser tore into a tree behind him, achieving a crack in the bark before stretching out a hand, and the winged creature suddenly became still and couldn't move.

The air trembled.

The winged beast had frozen mid-flight, its body jerking as an invisible hand held it in place. Its wings flailed, its claws scraping the empty air, but it could not claw its way out. Chris's telekinesis held it very fast, its grip tightening like ice.

The creature screamed, its bulbous eyes bulging, veins bursting as the pressure increased. Its body twisted, none creaking, flesh straining. Chris' expression remained calm, almost detached, as if it were nothing more than routine.

"Sorry," he smiled. "You really shouldn't have done that. Its nothing personal. "

Then, with a flick of his wrist, he tore it apart.

The beast split in two, its wings snapping, its torso ripping open with a wet, disgusting crack. Blood sprayed in the air, the hot substance splattering on trees and leaves the latter immediately disintegrating as if it was infected by bacteria or decaying substance. The creature's shriek was cut off immediately, frozen forever. It's half-fell to the ground, twitching before becoming still.

Chris lowered his hand, his humming continuing as if nothing had happened. He stepped past the mangled remains, his boots creating footprints in the blood, whistling the cheery tune and beginning his walk while the forest absorbed the silence of death.

"Hmmmm," Chris spoke, staring at the sky. "I wonder how Axel is doing."

Sierra Nightshade wiped the blood from her blade as she stared at the grotesque rhino-looking beast she had just killed. She was tall, her long dark hair straightened and looking very beautiful as she stood, her purple eyes analysing the creature, her elegant clothes accentuating her curves and leaving little to the imagination.

"Not enough darkness," she muttered, turning away from her kill. "I need more."

She didn't need to check the leaderboard to know that she was still first. It was expected. She knew she was stronger than everyone in the test. She knew she was going to pass the test. It was a matter of time,

If only she had entered Everon, the clan she had wanted to go to, but it was never going to happen. Not because of the 'incident' that occurred two years ago.

She heard rustling inside the bushes, her ears twitched at the sound. Her expression remained the same.

"Come out, Alae," she called out. "Don't make me say it twice."

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the undergrowth. She was average in height, her blonde hair in curls her gorgeous face shining brightly in the sunlight, her blue eyes gleaming with mischief.

"Well, well, well." She drawled out. "The great Sierra Nightshade noticed my presence. I feel so honoured."

"What do you want, Bardos?" Sierra snapped. "Don't you have a test to finish?"

"Well, I just happened to kill a rank four beast and then noticed you," Alae replied. "Just wanted to talk."

"About what?"

"Why are you here, of course. " Alae replied. "Thought you would enter the Everon clan like you always wanted to since we were kids. What happened?"

Sierra's frown deepened as she finally turned.

"Oh, wait." Alae continued, now smirking. "Forgot about the 'incident' that happened. No way any clan wants to associate with a cursed woman."

Sierra had the urge to unleash her blade and decapitate this menace before her, but she knew she wouldn't be able to win without losing an eye or body part or delaying the test.

"At least," Sierra fired back. "It's better than being leaked in a huge broadcast that is being shown across the nation. "

Alae's smirk faltered.

"I mean," Sierra continued. "What are you thinking? Recording yourself while fooling with six repulsive insects as men. You horns slut!"

Alae frowned in displeasure. "I don't recall asking for an insult."

"You get one when it has to do with men. All of them disgust me and if I'm strong enough, I'll eliminate all of them and wipe them from the face of this earth."

"So How will you have sex, then?" Alae asked, smirking. "I do swing both ways, you know."

"I don't need sex. I'm a celibate. " Sierra replied, walking away. "I have a test to finish now, get lost."

Alae watched her walking off and smiled. "You will be mine soon." She muttered as she moved in the opposite direction.

Meanwhile, back in the projection room, the footage was being displayed. A guy who was sitting down with one of the crystal balls blinked at it.

"What the hell did I just hear?"
