This specific type of trap was one that Jasmine had previously attempted to construct during her time at the castle. Although that particular endeavor had ultimately ended in failure, resulting in not a single small animal being captured, it did not mean that this method of trapping was inherently useless.
One could only say that the small animals living near the castle were simply too cunning and sly; even if they were actually caught by the trap, they would certainly not leave the corpses of their own kind behind at the scene for Jasmine to benefit from.
However, the innocent seabirds here, who had never witnessed the sinister and treacherous nature of human beings, were a completely different story.
