Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: I'm Not As Noble As Itachi

"Konoha's suppression and marginalization of the Uchiha over the past years gave rise to rebellious intentions among the Uchiha leadership.

This is something you—who aren't qualified to participate in the secret gatherings at the Naka Shrine—probably don't know.

But the truth is—

The relationship between the Uchiha and Konoha

had already reached a freezing point.

In order to preserve the village's so-called peace, Itachi was willing to become the executioner on behalf of Konoha's upper echelon, drawing his blade against his own clan."

Yin Yue explained patiently.

Everyone felt utterly despondent.

A mist clouded Izumi's eyes. Hot tears streamed down her face as she sobbed and asked:

"Then… what about you?"

In her memories, Yin Yue had always been gentle and kind, fond of smiling—a serious and responsible captain.

Back when she had just graduated from the Ninja Academy and carried out missions with him, she had been injured. Yin Yue hadn't abandoned her; instead, he carried her all the way back to Konoha.

Yin Yue replied calmly:

"I'm not as noble as the Uchiha Itachi you placed your hopes on—someone who can swing his blade at his own clan while justifying it with lofty reasons like protecting loved ones, serving a greater good, or safeguarding Konoha.

I don't care about village peace.

Anyone who dies by my blade tonight was destined to die anyway.

It's just a matter of

sooner,

or later.

All I want is to survive in this ninja world!

That said—

since I borrowed their lives, I naturally have to do something for the Uchiha in return.

I don't like owing favors. That's why you're all still standing here."

At this very moment, within the Uchiha compound, Itachi's blade was harvesting the lives of one Uchiha civilian after another.

Piercing screams and desperate cries grew louder and more shocking, casting a suffocating gloom over the entire Konoha.

"Hahaha!" Uchiha Tamayoshi suddenly burst into hearty laughter and shouted, "I knew it! Big Brother Yin Yue wasn't slaughtering clan members—he was helping them escape from this sea of suffering and hell!"

In public, he called Yin Yue "Captain."

In private, he called him "Big Brother."

The others looked at Tamayoshi with strange expressions. His outburst instantly disrupted the continuity of their grief.

But Tamayoshi was a lunatic to begin with.

Extremely emotionally unstable.

The only reason he was allowed to carry out missions—besides having awakened the three-tomoe Sharingan—was primarily due to Yin Yue's personal guarantee.

Yin Yue glanced at Tamayoshi and rotated his Mangekyō, temporarily解除ing the Eight Thousand Spears imprint in Tamayoshi's eyes.

Tamayoshi's parents had died during the Third Great Ninja War, leaving him mentally unstable from a young age. The clan abandoned him and forcibly sent him to Konoha Hospital's psychiatric ward.

Later, the kind-hearted original owner of this body rescued him and raised him.

Tamayoshi was essentially obedient to the original Yin Yue, trusting him unconditionally.

Now free again, Tamayoshi was ecstatic. He quickly moved to Yin Yue's back, just as he used to under his command—acting as both teammate and bodyguard, protecting his big brother.

"Captain Yin Yue! Let us go—I'll stop that guy!"

Uchiha Nanpu's eyes were already bloodshot. Stimulated by Itachi's actions, he wailed loudly. His elderly parents lived in the clan compound.

The teammates around Nanpu also begged desperately.

Most of their families lived in the core area of the compound, and Itachi was already close to slaughtering his way there.

"You can't stop him—and even with me added, it's still not enough," Yin Yue said, his gaze once again turning toward the clan compound, as though waiting for something.

At that moment, a police member spoke hesitantly, clinging to a shred of hope:

"The Uchiha only… only had intentions of seizing power, but hadn't taken any concrete action yet. Considering how much blood the Uchiha have shed for the village over the years, surely the higher-ups won't just ignore this, right?"

"We… we still have Clan Head Fugaku."

"Clan Head Fugaku wouldn't allow Itachi to run amok like this, would he?"

Even as they spoke, they didn't believe their own words.

Yin Yue stood up and pointed toward the forest surrounding the Uchiha compound, saying coldly:

"ROOT members are gathering over there. Take a guess—why are they holding position? This slaughter has been going on for five minutes. Why hasn't the Hokage's direct ANBU shown any movement? What about the other clans? What about Clan Head Fugaku?

These screams—

can't they hear them?

Until Itachi's blade stops and the screams of the Uchiha cease, neither the Hokage nor Konoha's upper echelon will appear.

Your Clan Head Fugaku has done nothing.

He is an accomplice as well!"

Those who had spoken earlier were left speechless.

Standing here, far removed from the massacre itself, these Uchiha police members felt like outsiders, forced to witness everything unfold.

Yin Yue was right.

This was a one-sided massacre tacitly permitted by Konoha's upper echelon. Tonight, no one would come to save the Uchiha.

What truly drove them into despair, however, was that the clan head had remained completely inactive at such a moment.

"Big Brother, let's run!"

Uchiha Tamayoshi proposed.

If they couldn't win, then flee first—become rogue ninjas, and once the time was right, kill their way back!

The others looked at Tamayoshi again and felt that, for once, the lunatic was right.

They Uchiha who were still alive—forget Itachi—even Konoha wouldn't let them go!

With the atmosphere of clan extermination set like this, if they didn't die, Danzō would help them "commit suicide."

"Captain Yin Yue, you all should run. My family is still in the compound. I can't abandon them and live on alone."

Uchiha Nanpu said bitterly.

He was an honest man.

His parents had died on missions early on, and he had been raised by his grandparents. He couldn't abandon the elderly to escape alone.

Just as Yin Yue was about to speak, another mission prompt appeared in his mind.

[Side Quest]: Rescue

[Condition]:

Rescue someone within the Uchiha clan compound.

[Reward]:

A 100-cubic-meter storage space.

Yin Yue frowned slightly.

Rescue someone…

He neither had the ability nor the inclination.

But the mission didn't specify how many people to rescue. As long as he rescued someone within the Uchiha compound, the reward would be granted. The nine behind him had been deceived into coming here before the quest—so they shouldn't count.

As for the reward—a 100-cubic-meter storage space—it would definitely be more convenient than storage scrolls.

Yin Yue made up his mind. There really was one person in the Uchiha compound worth trying to save.

Previously, his strength hadn't been enough.

But now—

His objective had already been achieved.

Just moments ago,

the shadow clone he deliberately sent into the clan compound had, by sheer coincidence, begun executing this task—though it wasn't yet time to complete it.

He intended to save this "surprise" for Itachi!

And also add another layer of insurance for survival.

At this moment, outside the Uchiha compound, within the forest, subtle movements—imperceptible to ordinary people—could be sensed.

Yin Yue's eyes lit up. He had finally been waiting for this moment.

He immediately stood up from the cliff's edge and swept his gaze across the eight people standing in a line.

Their breakdown was written plainly on their faces.

"I can't save your families from Itachi and the others—but I can take you to exact revenge right now!

After tonight,

your grandparents, parents, brothers, and sisters will sleep forever in this land that betrayed them.

But you—

you will be reborn!

So that one day, you may trample Konoha flat!"

After speaking, Yin Yue manipulated the chakra of the eight, using the Transformation Technique to turn them into members of three ROOT squads.

Seeing this, Tamayoshi also transformed into the same appearance as Big Brother and the others.

He might be a little crazy, but he wasn't stupid. He naturally knew what Big Brother was about to do!

Leading the nine, Yin Yue bypassed the Uchiha compound, using the cover of night to blend into the ROOT squads heading toward the outskirts of the clan.

"This is both the end—and the beginning!"

After speaking, Yin Yue deactivated his Mangekyō. Even so, he could still control the minds and chakra of the Uchiha police members around him.

Under the effects of Eight Thousand Spears, it felt like multitasking—controlling eight external limbs at once.

Next,

he had to carry out the final move before defecting from Konoha—the key factor in whether he could truly escape.

Yin Yue was going to assassinate:

"Shimura Danzō!"

But he only had about fifteen minutes to act. Once Itachi finished cleansing the Uchiha compound, Hiruzen Sarutobi and his direct ANBU would arrive. At that point, all ten of them would surely die in Konoha.

Yin Yue was willing to take such a huge risk. If he could kill Danzō, all the better. If not, he would at least take something extremely important from him.

This was the last thing he had to do—

before leaving the village!
