Ningyan tried to push Yan Wuhen away, his eyes snapping open and glowing a brilliant white-gold. Instead of retreating, Wuhen's grip tightened around his neck and bit down on his own lower lip hard enough to draw blood, earning a sharp hiss from Ningyan.
Ningyan retaliated immediately, sinking his teeth into Wuhen's lip with equal force. Blood welled but instead of reacting in pain, Yan Wuhen let out a low, pleased chuckle. He pulled back just an inch, yanking Ningyan away from the wall.
"Stubborn, aren't we?" Wuhen murmured, licking the blood from his lips.
Ningyan glared at him. "Fuck off," he choked out, Wuhen's hand still tight around his throat.
Wuhen slid an arm around his waist, forcing their bodies close, his red-gold fox eyes narrowing into a hard, unyielding seriousness. The same look he'd worn earlier. Then, just as suddenly, he smiled again, and Ningyan felt a chill crawl down his spine.
