Chapter 19 - Street Brawl (1)

[Third Person POV]

Ulick's rage froze as he struggled to process what had happened.

One moment, he was thinking about how far he should take his discipline of that brat who mocked him, and the next, he was lying face down on the floor, his right cheek quickly swelling from the two impacts.

As he lay there in shock, a metallic scent crept into his nose.

'Blood?'

Reaching his hand up to his face, he pulled it back to find his hand covered in blood.

Quickly but carefully, he pressed different parts of his face, and Ulick flinched when he lightly touched his nose, now understanding where the blood came from.

As the realization dawned, the rage he already felt erupted.

"AAAAAAAAAHHH!"

His scream bellowed through the room, getting the attention of the entire pub.

"You dare?! I'm not the kind of person you can afford to mess around with!" Ulick's fury was palpable, seeping into his every word.

Ulick's companions watched nervously.

Ulick's reputation among the Cuige Laighean fian was somewhat infamous. His temper was infamous on the battlefield, and he was one of the few opponents people avoided. The only reason he wasn't ranked higher was that even members of their own fian were terrified of him.

He acted like a stereotypical jock most of the time, especially with his constant sleeping with women, but when he was angry, he turned into a savage beast, willing to attack whoever he wanted without care.

None of them were strong enough to stop him if he went all out, and it was almost impossible to calm him down once he was in this state.

They had two ways to calm him down, but neither was good.

The easiest option was the destruction of whatever angered him, but they couldn't murder people just because one of them got punched. It would reflect poorly on the fian, and as useful as their leader found Ulick's intimidation, if it turned out he attacked random people in their own territory, Ulick would be kicked out on principle.

Their second option was even harder, which was to distract him with something, usually an attractive woman, but given that a woman had just punched him, he probably wasn't in the mood. Even if they could find a woman who was willing, they'd probably have to be compared against the red-haired woman who punched him.

On top of everything, Ulick was drunk, making him completely unreasonable.

As Ulick shouted at the top of his lungs about what he was going to do, barely able to restrain his worst impulses thanks to his friends' intervention, Erza soon finished her cake.

Riser and Viola weren't done with their meals, but they had only a few bites left, which they both hurriedly stuffed into their mouths as things escalated.

Swallowing the last bite, Riser spoke up toward the angry drunk. "If you're that upset, then how about we take this outside?" Placing down a hundred-euro note to cover their meal, Riser, Viola, and Erza stood and left the pub to keep any innocent people from getting dragged into the fight.

He wasn't a great sensor, but Riser could tell that the angry man was a magic user.

Truthfully, he intended to make contact with the magical side of Ireland during the trip.

Though Riser called it a vacation, it was mostly an excuse to tour the continent and enact his plans. It wasn't supposed to be a violent confrontation, but something more like Harry's first visit to Diagon Alley, peaceful and to learn more about the magical world.

Oh well.

The moment they stepped outside, Ulick rushed out after them, nearly tearing the door off its hinges.

Owen, Oscar, and Kieron followed behind shortly after. They knew they were objectively in the wrong, but they also couldn't let anything happen to their captain, as much of a pain in the ass as he may have been.

Ulick charged forward, preparing to deck the blond kid in the face. It was clear he led the trio, and he was the one who'd mocked him. His pride wouldn't allow him not to retaliate.

From his back, Ulick drew a large shillelagh, its thickness making it resemble a club. The tip of the stick was covered with a metal plate bearing the word 'Bas', meaning 'death'.

Swinging it toward Riser's temple with all his strength, the weapon was knocked out of his hands moments later by an enraged Erza.

"Your opponent is me," she coldly stated, already having Requipped her armor. Riser told her they were mages, so it was fine to use magic as long as it wasn't too flashy.

Riser had already cast a barrier over the street as they left the pub so that they could fight without worry.

Erza swung her sword at the now-unarmed Ulick, but his hand glowed slightly before the shillelagh flew back into his hand like Mjolnir.

With barely enough time to position it in front of him, Ulick blocked Erza's strike and was knocked several feet away.

She charged at him, continuously striking the wooden weapon, pushing Ulick back with each hit.

Ulick's friends were ready to step in, but unfortunately for them, Riser and Viola didn't plan to let them help.

Viola put her hands in front of her eyes. Seconds later, two comically large tears were dripping from them, one per eye.

The tears surged forward as if they had a life of their own. As they grew larger, they took on a whale-like shape, heating until they glowed red.

Cutting the tears from her eyes, the two tear constructs slammed into the three men, knocking them away.

"I'll handle her; you two try and get the kid," Kieron laid out a plan for victory. Since they had already started fighting, it didn't matter what they did next.

Taking the kid hostage would allow them to deal with the two women properly.

The Killian twins, Oscar and Owen, each created a magic circle on their hands, one on the left, the other on the right, before positioning their hands next to each other. The magic circles grew before fusing into a larger one.

When the spell was complete, they released their attack toward Riser, hoping to grab him while he was distracted blocking their spell.

Sadly for them, their plan was doomed from the moment they chose their spell.

As a burst of flames erupted from the magic circle, Riser just laughed as their attack crashed into him, surprising them because they didn't expect him to do nothing.
