"Take the man for treatment first, and have someone guard him," Fury instructed Coulson. Since vampires had appeared, they couldn't be left unaddressed.
"Yes, Director," Coulson replied. He didn't have time to greet his idol, so he simply nodded and began directing his personnel to cordon off the scene.
The police arrived later but were stopped at the nightclub's entrance. S.H.I.E.L.D. had already taken control, and they wouldn't allow outside interference.
Tony, still shaken from narrowly escaping death, muttered, "Are there really vampires? I just came out to have fun… what kind of monster was that?!"
Fury eyed him calmly. "Mr. Stark, it's safe here. Do you need a ride back?"
"No need, I can manage," Tony replied, limping slightly. "Damn it, what the hell happened?"
He turned to Steve. "Hey, buddy, what's your name? Thanks for tonight."
"Steve. You can also call me Captain," Steve replied, noting how much Tony resembled his movie counterpart, Robert Downey Jr.
So far, everyone around him seemed fully restored to their cinematic selves.
"Haha! Steve? Captain? Sounds familiar. Thanks, I'll treat you to a meal sometime." Tony pulled out his phone. "Happy, pick me up. Brooklyn. Ouch! My knee hurts so much!"
The nightclub scene was a mess, blood everywhere. What was meant to be a celebratory night had turned into a funeral.
Hill pointed to the tall, beautiful woman with black stockings and crossed arms.
"Husband, this is Natasha. Also an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Natasha's eyes flickered with curiosity, especially toward the newly awakened Captain America.
She had always known Hill as the cold, professional ice queen—a woman who showed favor to no one. Yet here she was, married in one day.
It was impressive, even unbelievable.
Natasha wanted to know why, though it seemed that aside from being taller, stronger, and better at fighting, Captain had no other obvious advantages.
"Hello, I'm Steve Rogers," he introduced himself.
"Natasha Romanoff," she replied, shaking his hand. Out of the others' sight, she hooked her finger in his palm—was it seduction, or a playful joke?
Steve remained unmoved, withdrawing his hand. What is Black Widow trying to do? Seduce me? he thought.
"I'm leaving first, Hill. Want to come along?" Steve asked.
"Okay, I'm on vacation anyway," Hill said, following him. Her mission had been to monitor Steve, but his performance last night had exceeded expectations.
She felt a first-time sense of safety and sweetness being protected by him.
Hill, with no dating experience, wanted nothing more than to go back to her apartment and enjoy the feeling.
The next morning, the sun had risen, but the room was dark, the curtains closed.
Waking up, Hill's eyelashes twitched slightly.
"Are you pretending to sleep?" Steve asked.
"No!" she replied, opening her eyes. Her face was bright in the morning light. "I have to go back to work today. Will you miss me?"
If Natasha had seen this, she'd have been stunned. The ice-cold Deputy Director showing a little girl's expression? Could it be real?
"Let's have a child!" Steve joked.
Hill left for work. As Deputy Director, and after dealing with a vampire attack last night, handling supernatural cases was part of her core duties.
Steve planned to go back to sleep and enjoy a carefree life, but the phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hi, buddy. Tony from last night. Interested in a drink?" Tony laughed heartily.
Despite his playboy image, he had checked and realized Steve was a World War II figure—and a friend of his father.
"Sure, where?" Steve asked, curious about Iron Man's progress. He had a girlfriend now, a new life, and no reason to hold back.
"I'll give you the address—my seaside villa."
"Okay, see you later. Make it a big meal—it's almost lunch anyway."
Steve jumped up and quickly dressed. Hill had tidied his clothes before leaving.
Ding! Mission triggered: First Friend.
First Friend: Make a superhero friend after entering the modern era. Building good relationships will make future slack-off missions easier.
Target: Tony Stark (Iron Man). Reward: Tarot Martial Arts.
Hmm? Make friends… More options, easier to slack off. Got it.
As he left the door, Steve almost collided with someone.
The person gasped and stumbled backward. An arm wrapped around her waist to steady her.
Sharon exhaled, her bright eyes meeting his. "Thank you. I live next door—I'm your neighbor."
A bit of intentional closeness, even for a simple thanks.
Steve recognized her immediately: Agent 13, Sharon Carter—Peggy Carter's niece. Heh heh, and my future girlfriend.
"You're welcome. Neighbors help each other, right? If you ever get stuck in a washing machine, call me—I'll help!" Steve laughed, then added, "Oh! I have something to do. Excuse me!"
Sharon raised an eyebrow. Washing machine? Did he really think I hadn't seen Pron videos?
"See you next time then!"
