Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Trade

He met me at the entrance, took one look at the situation, and started loading without comment. Professional.

The trunk filled quickly. Then the back seat. By the time we finished, only the front seats remained empty.

"Where to now?" he asked.

"Fast food drive through, then home."

At the drive through, I ordered burgers and fries for both of us. A small thank you for his patience. He seemed surprised but pleased.

The drive to my villa was quiet. When we arrived, he helped carry everything inside without being asked.

"Thanks for your help today," I said, handing him payment plus a generous tip.

"My pleasure. You need a driver again, just request me through the app. Name's Marcus."

After he left, I stood in my foyer surrounded by bags and boxes, feeling slightly overwhelmed. I ate my take away food in front of the TV, letting some mindless show play while I processed the day.

Then, methodically, I started organizing. Groceries in the fridge and pantry. Cleaning supplies under sinks. Toiletries in bathrooms. The basic supplies needed to make a house functional.

The items for Chen Xuan, I carried to one of the spare bedrooms. Spread everything out on the floor, removing packaging and price tags. The mirrors, fabrics, accessories, clothes, crockery, beauty products, and drinks. It looked like the world's strangest yard sale.

I took a breath, centering myself. Time to be the divine merchant again.

I reached for the mental connection. Chen Xuan.

The response was immediate, almost desperate. "My lord! Forgive this humble servant, I have been waiting for your divine message for a month, fearing I had offended you somehow!"

A month? I'd only established the connection yesterday.

Warning: Time dilation between worlds. Earth standard 1 day equals approximately 30 Blue Light Planet days. Variance may occur.

Oh. That was going to be important to remember.

I almost blurted out the time difference before catching myself. Gods probably wouldn't explain themselves like that.

"The immortal realm operates on different principles than your mortal world", I said, making my mental voice as imposing as possible. What seems brief to me may be a long time to you. For an immortal, a month is a mere breath away.

"Of course, my lord! Forgive my ignorance!"

"I have prepared your blessing. The items will appear before you momentarily. Receive them."

I activated the system's transfer function, watching the items on my floor glow slightly before vanishing from the room.

Chen Xuan POV

Chen Xuan's hands trembled as he knelt in his private study, the bronze ring warm against his finger. He'd spent the past month in a state of anxious anticipation, wondering if the divine voice had been real or some fever dream brought on by stress.

But now the voice had returned, speaking of blessings and divine gifts.

"This servant is ready, my lord," he said aloud, not caring if anyone heard. His household knew better than to disturb him in his study.

The air before him shimmered.

Objects materialized out of nothing, appearing in neat arrangements on the floor of his study. Chen Xuan fell back with a startled cry, his heart hammering. Magic. True Immortal magic, before his very eyes.

When nothing exploded or caught fire, he cautiously approached the divine gifts.

"I have sent you mirrors", the voice explained. "Glass of perfect clarity set over divine liquid silver, framed by precious metals and worked on by the best of Immortal craftsmen".

Chen Xuan picked up one of the handheld mirrors with shaking hands. His reflection looked back at him, clear and perfect, without the distortions or dimness of polished bronze. He gasped and almost dropped the mirror. He caressed its surface, seeing his own face so clearly for the first time.

"Merciful heavens," he whispered. The frame appeared to be pinkish gold, warm and beautiful. He set it down carefully and examined the tabletop mirror. Even more impressive, larger, equally perfect.

There were six total. Six mirrors that each alone could sell for a fortune, each was worth a whole city.

"Fabrics from the immortal looms, the voice continued. Colors that do not fade, materials unknown to your world".

Chen Xuan touched the fabrics, and his breath caught. The fabric was almost see through and was unlike anything he'd ever felt. Lighter than silk, almost ethereal, in colors so vivid they seemed to glow. The whites were pure, perfect, without the slightly yellow tinge even the best white fabrics carried.

And the embroidered pieces... He held up a section of crystal-beaded net, watching how it caught the candlelight. This alone was worth more than his entire shop's inventory.

"Ornaments for nobility", the voice said. "Decorations for hair and face, enchanted glass that dims the sun's harsh light".

The accessories were beautiful, clearly crafted with precision no mortal artisan could match. He couldnt even see or feel the strokes and scrapes of the artisans tools, he thought rubbing his finger over the accessories.

But the sunglasses... Chen Xuan carefully put on a pair and gasped.

The world darkened slightly, but he could still see. Glass that reduced sunlight without obscuring vision? The imperial family would pay anything for such items.

"Vessels for drink and dining", the divine voice continued. "Pottery of perfect uniformity, and blades".

The tea set was art. Each piece identical, the porcelain pure white with delicate patterns. The plates and bowls similarly perfect. Chen Xuan ran his finger along a knife edge and nearly cut himself. Sharper and with a handle finer than he has ever seen before, but with a shape that was different to the mortal blades.

The glasses were clear crystal, or something even finer. Five complete sets of six glasses, each piece matching perfectly.

"Raiment of Immortal materials", the voice said. "Cloth woven in ways your world has not discovered".

Chen Xuan examined the jeans and joggers with confusion, giving way to fascination. The fabric was thick, sturdy, perfectly sewn. And the shoes... He'd never seen anything like them.
