Raj looked at the four badges in his hand and couldn't help but wonder—how far had Ash and the others gotten by now?
From what he remembered from his previous life, Ash never got a Gym Badge easily.
Every match was a battle of persistence, often needing guidance, luck, or pure inspiration to win.
After returning to the Pokémon Center to restore his team's strength, Raj spent his time bragging to Nurse Joy about how he'd defeated Lt. Surge.
Seeing the envy in her eyes made Raj realize—it wasn't so bad being a "villain," especially one who could make his Pokémon stronger so quickly.
Still, that thought brought a bit of unease.
He had crossed into another world—the world of Pokémon. It was fascinating, sure, but his situation wasn't exactly simple.
His father was no ordinary man; he was the original leader of Team Rocket, ruthless and cunning. But why had he stayed hidden in Pallet Town for more than ten years?
Too many mysteries surrounded him. Thinking about them made Raj's head ache.
Since I'm here, I might as well make the best of it.
If going home was impossible, then why not dominate this world? Why not become a villain so powerful that everyone feared his name?
But right now, conquering Vermilion City wasn't going as smoothly as expected.
He needed another location to train—Haunter and the others still had room to grow.
Raj walked to the forest's edge and summoned his spaceship in a secluded area.
As he looked over the massive craft, he felt it lacked some basic comfort.
"System," he said, "are there any upgrades in the points shop to make the ship more livable—like food and supplies? A spaceship this advanced should have some human touches."
[Yes, host. The system can enable automatic monthly replenishment of essential supplies. This feature costs 10,000 points per month.]
"Alright, do it. Guess I just bought the VIP package," Raj muttered.
He piloted the spaceship to a bay near Cerulean City, purchased a Nether Water Pearl, and dropped it into the surf.
As the waves rolled in, the pearl shimmered dark blue, releasing ripples across the sea.
Moments later, countless Pokémon swarmed toward the shore—Magikarp, Kingler, Tentacool, Horsea, Goldeen, and more.
Raj set up a parasol and rocking chair, then released all his Pokémon.
The ones on the beach weren't too strong, so he allowed his team to absorb their energy freely.
Haunter hypnotized and confused dozens of Water-types, rendering them helpless.
The Shiny Slime wriggled forward, using Mount Pressure to crush dazed Pokémon before absorbing them.
Beedrill unleashed Pin Missiles from multiple shadow clones, then devoured weakened opponents.
At first, Raj found the scene cruel. Watching his Pokémon consume others made him uneasy.
But he quickly hardened himself.
No matter the world, the law of the jungle never changes.
To survive as a villain, he needed strength. After all, villains didn't just fight heroes—they fought each other.
Besides Team Rocket, there were also Team Magma, Team Aqua, and countless others. All had their own ambitions, and conflict was inevitable.
Raj's father might be powerful, but that meant he had many enemies. As his son, Raj needed to become strong enough not to be a liability.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, his Pokémon's strength had risen noticeably—Beedrill at 850 combat power, Shiny Slime at 900, and Haunter at 970, nearing evolution.
But none of them had learned new moves, which irritated him.
He accessed the system again.
In this world, Pokémon didn't just learn skills through experience—they could also learn via TMs.
After browsing the shop, Raj bought Poison Jab for Shiny Slime, Energy Ball for Haunter, and Leech Life for Beedrill. The three TMs alone cost him 60,000 points.
Just as he finished upgrading his team, a movement on the beach caught his eye.
[Ding! System alert: Water- and Poison-type Pokémon detected within 15 meters — Tentacool.]
The system's voice continued:
[Tentacool, the Jellyfish Pokémon. Its body is mostly water, with two red gem-like orbs on its head and gray tentacles below. Moves: Poison Sting, Acid, Bubble Beam, Barrier, Water Pulse. Combat Power: 450. Evolution Value: 0.]
Raj's eyes lit up. He remembered this Pokémon from the anime—a Tentacool that would soon evolve into a massive Tentacruel and attack a coastal city.
If I catch one now, I might even use it later to get close to Ash and his friends… or manipulate the Tentacruel itself.
"Haunter, Hypnosis!"
The ghost floated forward, eyes glowing. The Tentacool went limp, and Raj tossed a Poké Ball.
[Ding! System notification: Tentacool captured successfully. Poison-type Pokémon encyclopedia progress increased. Reward: 1,000 points.]
Raj grinned.
Catching Poison- and Dark-types unlocks hidden quests, huh? Not bad.
Even as a villain, he knew better than to rely on one type of Pokémon. Any decent Trainer needed a balanced team—his father certainly wouldn't settle for less.
"But wait… why doesn't this Tentacool have any special abilities?" Raj asked.
[Host, not all Pokémon are born special. Some must grow stronger the normal way. What, did you really think I'm a god who bends this world for you?]
The system's cold tone dripped with sarcasm.
Raj scratched his head awkwardly. Just as he was about to recall his Pokémon and return to the ship—
An unexpected event suddenly occurred.
