The pressure on Cassian's arm was too much, he miscalculated. Checking the corners was basic training in the military, perhaps for the year after his court martial when he indulged himself with webnovels and spending time with his daughter had made him soft.
He dropped his right side low with a yank and kicked Edmund's foot away to make him lose balance.
As his weight shifted and he tumbled forwards Edmund's hold of Cassian's arm faltered which gave the latter enough time to pull it free and turn to face his professor.
But as soon as he got on his feet and turned around, a right hook connected with his jaw as he crashed onto the wall at the end of the hall.
Edmund flicked his finger as shadows took hold of Cassian's arms, but he was not going out this easily, a small light flickered on the tip of his index finger and a wind bullet grazed Edmund's ear as he tilted his head.
Then the same shadows covered Cassian's eyes as he was completely retrained.
…
…
…
The sound of murmuring came from around him, he was now in a chair with his wrists and ankles tied.
"You're finally awake, I hope I didn't hit you too hard down at the entrance." Edmund chuckled as he said and removed the shadow restricting his vision.
As Cassian's eyes adjusted to the light in the room he saw Edmund who stood in front of him, to his left was a short woman wearing a black gown and white gloves, her white hair was tied in a neat bun and big rimmed glasses sat on her nose.
"Captain, this brat has just the smallest of scratches on his cheek after your punch. He's alright surely." She said and walked out of the room.
The inside was simple, a corridor which led to various rooms and then on one side was the entrance with a reception.
The rest of the people in the room didn't pay much attention to him, a tall holy knight wearing black armor sat in the farthest corner with closed eyes and hands resting on his great-sword.
And an old woman, who was short and slightly hunched, was busy mixing some stuff in a cup and stirred it.
"Captain?" Cassian began but was stopped by Edmund raising his hand.
"You can talk later, first answer me one simple thing. Why were you stalking me from the moment you stepped out of the detective agency." He said and sat down besides Cassian.
Cassian had nothing to say, he was overpowered easily as well as being spotted when he stalked Edmund. The real identity of his professor intrigued him very much.
"How did you know? I was clearly keeping my distance."
Edmund leaned back in his chair and folded his arms, "it's very simple, experience. By the way, one thing is odd. You cast a chantless wind bullet at me earlier," he leaned forward to face him, "and that's something not even graduating students can do at times apart from the Ironveil children."
Cassian was nervous, a week into his transmigration and he was already in trouble. When writing the novel he had only focused on the main character and didn't really give it his all.
So he knew exactly nothing about the other characters apart from some details such as Edmund being an academic genius.
"I learned it from my father, he said I was his most promising child." Cassian blurted out a lie to make Edmund move on from that fact.
Not only was his professor smart, he was also insanely strong and had such keen observation that he saw his chantless spell.
'There goes me being subtle with all this. I need a way out of this mess.' Cassian thought as he observed Edmund.
The sun had almost come out, Martha and Ser Oliver would still be waiting for him outside while he was bound to a chair being interrogated.
"Cassian, if you were stalking me because of your question then let me answer. Yes I quite believe in transmigrators and transmigration. And I wanna know why you are interested in knowing about transmigration."
He got up and sighed, "but that will have to wait, go back to your dorm and meet me here after class. I'll get you up to date with all I know about this." He said and released his restraints.
As Cassian nodded and left the building, Edmund walked to the Holy Knight, "Ser Brannoc, I need you to investigate him, he is Cassian Morrigan. Initially he was not supposed to join the academy but the youngest son of the Ironveil's disappeared suddenly and instead Cassian joined."
Ser Brannoc the Holy Knight got up and stretched his back,"so you're saying that the disappearance and Cassian's appearance are connected, Captain?" He said and adjusted his armor.
"Yes, I can feel it and that's why I plan on taking him under us. Anyways go rest now, you have a long day ahead, I'll prepare my lectures."
Both men left and went to do their respective tasks. Cassian on the other hand walked back to the detective agency to see Martha and Ser Oliver standing outside with bags in their hands.
"Sorry for the delay, I was caught up in something." Cassian said as they got on the carriage and went back to the dorms.

Lectures resumed the next day, Edmund taught the history of the empire followed by Magic Theory and a first practical lesson at weapon handling.
Cassian left for The Imperial Historical Audit Office as soon as the lectures ended, he took a carriage to Gold Square where the detective agency and the audit office were.
But before he went inside, he had to order a few weapons. He knew how to use a sword, spear and even an axe.
He went inside a small building with smoke coming out of the chimney. It was a blacksmithing shop.
Inside a short man with long white hair and a beard as white as his hair was hammering a sword.
"Greetings, I'm looking for the master artisan." Cassian asked as he took off his black gloves.
The short man answered, "that's me son, so watcha need lad?" He said as he hammered once again.
"A sword, a spear, an axe and finally throwing daggers." Cassian replied with a small smile.
"Gods whatcha gonna do with em all?" He asked in confusion.
No one would come in and ask for four weapons to be made but it didn't bother him as he would be getting money.
"Oh, apologies. I can't really decide what weapon I should mainly use as I am quite proficient with all of these."
Hearing the answer made the artisan really happy, he finally got a big fish. Seeing his smile Cassian too thought of something.
'For now I'll become his customer with this order, only he could ever make the weapon I have my eyes on.'
After confirming the details of the order Cassian left and made his way to the office. He entered the building and went up the stairs.
At the reception the same woman with white hair and huge glasses sat. She smiled as Cassian entered.
"Good evening, Miss?"
"Evelyn and welcome back to the Imperial Historical Audit Office, the Captain is in his office at the end of the corridor."
Cassian nodded and walked towards the corridor, he saw on his right and left rooms full of people.
In one the armored man from last time was meditating without his armor, in another room the old woman was reading through a large textbook and then in the room nearest to Edmund's a man and woman were playing with round beads on a table.
'Tactical War Table, at least I made something from my time in the military.'
Cassian stood outside the office and took a deep breath and then opened the door.
