Her father let out a sigh.
"Then what's the point of asking?"
"I like formalities. I also want to get along with her parents, so you can see where I'm going with this, right?"
"I do. And since you're being so persistent, I approve. Now let's go downstairs for dinner. Don't forget the rings."
Of course, I won't.
I stored the rings carefully and then followed her father downstairs. The food was already prepared, and it wasn't anything fancy. Just a few steaks and some bread.
Judging by how stressed her mother looked, I guessed Clementine had told her about the demon descent.
And when Clementine and I met eyes, she took a deep breath and began explaining everything to her father as well.
The moment she finished, silence descended upon the dinner table. It was a heavy silence, as one would expect.
But her father took it surprisingly well.
