As warmth and alluring fragrance of food filled the kitchen, Lucille wiped her hands on a towel before stepping outside. She had lined the table with finished dishes, while the chicken soup stayed on the stove.
From afar, Lucille saw Regina and Hazel sparring on the other side of the lawn. Fast and sharp, the ladies were certainly not holding back.
The sun had long risen to its peak, raising the surrounding temperature slightly. The breeze occasionally picked up, kissing the blooms and the leaves.
Lucille ran out of the kitchen to the yard. As she crossed over the lawn, she cupped her hands around her mouth, yelling, "Sister Gina! Hazel!"
The shout rang through the yard. The two women paused mid-motion, their weapons grazing the air. With lifted brows, they stared confusedly at Lucille.
"Lunch's ready!" she hollered again. "Come eat if you're hungry! All in the kitchen! Call Felix too!"
