"Forgive me, Grandmother. It won't happen again," Julian murmured, his voice barely a shadow of its usual confidence.
"Of course it won't," Grandmother Victoria retorted icily. "Because starting today, I am assigning people to monitor your every move. And as for you, Scarlett..." Her expression softened as she turned to her granddaughter-in-law. "I am proud of you for the project with Sean. Use this opportunity to show the world that the Caldwell name doesn't just belong to Julian."
Once breakfast concluded and Julian had slunk off to the film set with a darkened expression, Scarlett stood on her bedroom balcony, overlooking the sprawling grounds of Green Garden.
Despite Grandmother Victoria's defense, Scarlett felt no sense of victory. She knew Julian hadn't gone to Selena out of obligation, but out of love. She was beginning to realize that her presence in this house was nothing more than a barrier to the happiness of the man she loved.
Her phone buzzed. A message from Sean.
