"Scarlet!" Joshua shouted, wanting to stop his daughter's steps, he felt very guilty.
No matter how much he hated Scarlett from the moment his first wife brought her home, he still owed her a debt of gratitude.
Joshua will be dragged to prison if he cannot pay off a notorious loan shark within a week. In fact, Joshua's debt was not much, but because he had not been able to pay it off for the last year, the loan shark did not hesitate to increase it by any amount.
The loan shark finds out Scarlett ran away and went to NYC so he pressures Joshua and threatens to go to jail. In the last few days he was so stressed that he had to submit an application to the bank using the guarantee of the house certificate left by his wife, but the process was still complicated and took weeks.
And today Scarlett suddenly came to his rescue by bringing a check for 500 thousand dollars and giving it to him for free without any conditions. Joshua felt like he wanted to cry, he was grateful.
He wanted to thank Scarlett by preventing his adopted daughter from leaving, but Emma's hand suddenly grabbed his arm, preventing him.
"Just leave her alone."
"But..."
"For what? She's not your biological daughter, forget her!"
For some reason, Joshua's mind was so tense that his eyes were red from crying.
Meanwhile, Scarlett, whose heart had been broken into pieces, couldn't stop his feet even though Joshua shouted at her repeatedly. She was determined never to set foot in that house again, even though it was full of happy memories with her late mother.
Scarlett sobbed, she really wanted to suddenly lose her short-term memory so that she would no longer remember the incident that made her look like a useless fool, even though she had to be bound by a difficult marriage agreement in order to earn money but all of them, including her father, didn't ask anything first and instead immediately judged her without feeling. Scarlett sighed and immediately woke up from her reverie when the online taxi driver stopped in front of her and honked the horn.
"Really Miss Scarlett?"
Scarlett nodded then got into the taxi. While on the way, she remembered that her cellphone was dead and forgot to charge it. Nervously, she immediately looked for a power bank and charged her cellphone. Sure enough, there were lots of calls from Julian. Scarlett fearfully called Julian back.
"Hello Julian."
"Where are you?" Julian answered hurriedly and angrily.
"Towards the bus station."
"Are you crazy? You left without saying goodbye, without anyone accompanying you, what if someone hurts you? Grandma was angry for several days because of you," Julian attacked her with anger without pause.
Scarlett sighed.
"Sorry, but I'm used to it like this. Julian, I can take care of myself, after all, I'm on my way back to Manhattan."
"How many more days, ha? And remember Scarlett, get rid of the habits of your previous life, your life now is different, in fact soon you will become Young Mrs. Caldwell, how can you go like that, take the bus? Ah, I don't know how you think."
Scarlett was silent for a moment, she smiled a happy smile, Scarlett knew that Julian was actually worried, but maybe Julian couldn't convey it well because of his pride. Scarlett wanted to laugh.
"Okay, I'm sorry, and I ask you to please tell Grandma Victoria that I'm okay."
"Yes, but now go to the airport and don't go anywhere, wait until I come to pick you up. Don't argue, this is an order!" Julian confirmed.
Scarlett choked, airport? That means she's going to get on a plane. This was Scarlett's first time on a plane and somehow suddenly she felt nauseous at the thought of flying through the air at such a height.
But Julian immediately turned off the phone before Scarlett answered a word.
"Turn towards the airport now!"
"Yes Miss."
A few minutes passed, Scarlett had arrived at the airport, but she still had to wait around 6-7 hours to wait for Julian.
For some reason, her heart suddenly felt excited, remembering that Julian had been worried about her and would soon pick her up, Scarlett smiled happily, and suddenly she forgot about the insults from her family.
With a happy heart, Scarlett waited for Julian by buying coffee, sitting near the window, then let time pass without really paying attention. Occasionally she opened her cellphone, looked at Julian's name, then occasionally looked at several photos of Julian that she had saved on her new cellphone, then closed it again. When the coffee cooled without her realizing it, Scarlett stood up and walked briefly out of the airport.
The sea air greeted her, salty, cold and honest. She inhaled deeply while smiling sweetly, before going back in and sitting in the same place. Seven hours wasn't a long time for a plane, but it was too long for someone waiting.
***
The Caldwell family's Gulfstream was waiting with the engine running when Julian arrived in Teterboro. There are no flashy logos, no crowds, just the calm that has been their language of power for generations. Six hours after leaving the skies of Manhattan, the plane lowered its altitude over the California coastline. Julian didn't look at his watch again when the car took him into Carmel-by-the-Sea.

When Scarlett had just returned to the airport and was sitting in the waiting room, her cell phone rang, Julian's name appeared on the screen and she hurriedly answered the call.
"Hello Julian."
"Where are you?"
"In the waiting room."
Then quickly, the connection was lost. Scarlett snorted in annoyance. After that, two men in black hoodies, sunglasses and masks approached her. Scarlett shuddered in fear, she almost ran away, but his strong and sturdy arms quickly prevented her.
Scarlett immediately knew who they were. Yes, that is Julian and Jonathan.
"Come on, let's get out of here quickly," whispered Julian while looking around here and there.
Scarlett nodded, Julian swiftly took Scarlett's hand which made the beautiful woman stunned for a moment, Julian didn't care, he had to leave the place immediately.
Julian breathed a sigh of relief when he got back on his private jet, while Scarlett still couldn't believe it, the private jet belonging to the Caldwell family was so interesting and impressive to her that it amazed her.
"Don't overdo it, let's quickly put on your seat belt!"
Scarlett came back to her senses, then nervously tried to put it on but she didn't know how to use it, this was her first experience of traveling in the air.
"I...can't wear it," she admitted sheepishly.
Julian snorted then deftly immediately helped Scarlett's difficulties because he was sitting next to her.
I don't know why Scarlett suddenly became nervous when she saw Julian who looked so patient helping her put on her seat belt. She couldn't help herself as her heart beat faster and faster, until Julian could feel Scarlett's nervousness.
Moreover, they accidentally looked at each other so close, that their faces were only a few inches apart, making Scarlett even more unable to control herself.
Scarlett could even feel Julian's warm breath penetrating her face. When he breathed, only the scent of fragrant masculine perfume seemed to greet her.
"Ahem," Jonathan deliberately cleared his throat seeing them so close.
Suddenly Scarlett and Julian became nervous and immediately moved away from each other, until Jonathan couldn't help but laugh when he saw Julian acting like that.
"I only...""
Scarlett's strangled voice turned into a reflex scream as the plane began to lift her body in preparation for flight.
Julian chuckled in annoyance at Scarlett's behavior which he considered too excessive, but because she was too scared, Scarlett's hand accidentally grabbed Julian's hand and hugged him.
