Chapter 145 - Crisis

At night, in a small town in the North Sunderland Country with a population of only tens of thousands, the buildings were all wooden, sharp-roofed houses.

Xiang Jing, bare-chested and wearing black trousers, stood atop the thirty-meter-high black-domed church in the small town: "Are we certain that the person who shows up here later is the culprit behind the disappearances in the North Sunderland Country?"

"Don't worry. Based on the locations of the missing people, the probability of him appearing here tonight is over seventy percent!" Beside him, a white-haired youth wearing a black wool sweater and black trousers sneered.

Behind the two stood a blonde woman in a white trench coat. The woman released a special fluctuation that enveloped the surroundings.

From the outside, the area looked completely deserted.

They had been in this country for several days. Initially, they thought that two Level Five experts plus a group of Awakened Ones would easily find the target, but unexpectedly, the target seemed alert and kept changing direction.

This was already a border town of the North Sunderland Country; eighty kilometers further lay another country.

"He's here!" Just then, the white-haired youth Salo suddenly pointed his finger toward a secluded spot on the edge of the town.

Aside from the church, the houses here were only two or three stories high, allowing the two of them standing there to see everything in the town.

Xiang Jing also turned his head to look. Over there, in a forest, a person completely wrapped in black clothing appeared.

He was extremely fast, covering seven or eight meters in a single stride before rushing straight into a house.

"Go!" Xiang Jing flashed a cruel smile and pushed off with his feet.

Bang! The church roof exploded, and Xiang Jing shot violently into the sky, his body tracing an arc before landing on a rooftop several hundred meters away.

Bang! The rooftop exploded again, and Xiang Jing leaped another few hundred meters.

Simultaneously, a large number of Awakened Ones wearing gray trench coats suddenly leaped out of the surrounding houses.

With cold expressions, they rapidly charged toward the small house on the edge.

Xiang Jing reached the edge of the town from the central church after only three jumps.

He stood in a street, looking at the two-story wooden house a hundred meters away. He sniffed lightly and detected a smell of blood coming from inside.

"It seems to be completely confirmed now. It's you!" A faint azure light appeared on his body.

Bang! The ground beneath his feet exploded, and an azure phantom shot out into the night toward the small wooden house a hundred meters away.

Crash! The wooden house wall shattered upon impact with Xiang Jing, and the pitch-black space was illuminated by the azure light, revealing everything inside the house.

A Black-robed person was facing away from him, gnawing on a recently deceased corpse. Because Xiang Jing's speed was too fast, the Black-robed person seemed not to have reacted.

"Excellent, stay just like that!" Xiang Jing smiled cruelly, extending his right hand to grab the Black-robed person's head.

Once he grabbed it, the target wouldn't be able to escape.

Swoosh! His bright right hand passed directly through the Black-robed person's head, and the cruel smile on his face froze.

Buzz, buzz, buzz! He tore open the black robe, revealing a large number of black insects whose carapaces shimmered with a metallic luster under the azure light.

"It's not a person after all!" Xiang Jing looked at the insects flying everywhere, a look of shock on his face.

However, his movements were not slow. Standing still, he punched repeatedly at the insects flying wildly around.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!

Streaks of azure light flashed across the room, reducing the insects to black residue within a second, leaving only a few that Xiang Jing had deliberately kept alive.

Thud, thud, thud! At this moment, hurried footsteps sounded nearby, and a large number of Awakened Ones surrounded the house.

The azure light on Xiang Jing disappeared, and he walked out, grasping three small black insects.

A blonde youth holding a broad knight's sword hurried over and respectfully asked, "Duke Xiang, did you catch the target?"

Xiang Jing extended his right hand and opened it, revealing the black insects wrapped in a cluster of azure energy. His expression was strange: "It's not a person; it's insects."

The people around him also looked strange. Had they gone through all this trouble just to catch a few small insects?

If their colleagues found out back home, they would be laughed to death.

Meanwhile, in the forest two kilometers away.

Motley was wearing a trendy yellow lettered T-shirt, jeans, and blue sneakers.

His expression was gloomy: "I didn't expect them to follow me all the way here. Fortunately, I used insects to scout ahead before every move."

A few days ago, his older brother called him, telling him to leave the North Sunderland Country because a large number of disappearances were happening there.

Hearing this, he immediately knew the situation would be difficult. If something happened within the Teya Alliance territory, the Bureau of Gods would definitely intervene.

He left the Capital immediately after hanging up the phone, but he didn't expect his pursuers to follow him here just as quickly.

Motley walked in the opposite direction from the national border. Since his pursuers had appeared here, they would certainly guess he might try to cross, and they might already have an ambush set up there.

"Motley?" Just as Motley was moving quickly through the forest, a puzzled voice came from above him.

Hearing the familiar voice, Motley's expression stiffened, and he slowly looked up.

On the top of a ten-meter-tall tree a few meters to his left, a white-haired youth was standing on a palm-sized leaf.

His face showed curiosity as he looked at Motley.

A gentle breeze blew past, causing the white hair on Salo's head to sway slightly. A perverse smile gradually appeared on his face: "What are you doing here? You aren't the culprit behind the disappearance cases, are you?"

"Lord Salo, would you believe me if I said I was just passing through?" Motley's expression was calm, but his heart was pounding faster and faster.

This was a Level Five expert, an existence at the pinnacle of Blue Star!
