Jiang Yan watched the whole scene: "Truly special—no Monster traits visible, yet possessing Monster abilities."
Bang! A deafening crash burst from behind the group; everyone spun toward the sound.
The once-quiet woman in the cage now glared at Yu Shuanghua with a twisted face, her Wings slamming the alloy bars and sending out another thunderous boom.
Yu Shuanghua looked at her and felt an instinctive urge to devour her.
He quickly suppressed the impulse and turned to Jiang Yan and Xie Gongming. "President, Supervisor Xie, just looking at her makes me want to eat her—like consuming her would perfect something inside me."
Xie Gongming's eyes lit up. "That never happened in prior tests. Perhaps having only one Flesh sample was the reason; now that there are two, we understand the Flesh's effect better."
Jiang Yan's expression stayed calm. "Eat the Flesh in front of you. Once you evolve, I'll let you eat her."
"Yes!" Yu Shuanghua turned to the prepared Flesh.
In this form, the Flesh's allure had skyrocketed.
It felt like the most delicious food imaginable.
He stepped over; his hands split into gaping maws and began tearing at the Flesh, his doppelgänger beside him eating just as ravenously.
With two bodies, they polished off an adult's worth of Flesh in one minute.
Seeing this, Xie Gongming turned to his Assistant. "Bring another two carts of Flesh—fast."
"On it!" The Assistant sprinted out.
Just then another Assistant approached, tablet in hand.
A video call was active; Dong Guangjie's feed appeared in the lower left.
He addressed Jiang Yan: "President, the Monster's special Flesh-Fruit dose is ready. We're starting the live stream."
Jiang Yan used the moment to glance at the tablet.
Dong Guangjie was inside Research Base No. 2, the same site where Lü Zhengxing's experiment had taken place.
On-screen, inside a huge Cylinder, stood a two-meter-plus figure clad in crimson armor, flames flickering on its shoulders.
It clutched a throbbing lump of Flesh, eyeing it greedily.
Beside it, a huge pile of Flesh had been prepared.
"Begin," Jiang Yan said, intrigued; ideas for exploiting this new discovery were already forming.
"Eat!" At the order, Dong Guangjie spoke into the comm.
The Crimson-Armored Monster couldn't wait; it gulped the Flesh without chewing.
Yet instead of powering up, nothing happened.
The Monster spread its hands, puzzled. "Why didn't I change like that woman did?"
It had assisted during the first Flesh trial and clearly remembered an ordinary human skyrocketing to the peak of Level Two in a single day.
Bang! Without warning the crimson-armored body exploded.
Chunks of Flesh splattered; some pieces twitched and wriggled on the floor.
Before everyone's eyes the writhing bits fused into a single pulsing lump of Flesh.
Dong Guangjie's expression stayed flat as he turned to Jiang Yan on the feed: "President, seems this stuff is useless to Monsters. I suspect even Awakened Ones and qi-awakened martial artists can't use it—only ordinary, powerless humans get results."
"Arrange tests with Awakened Ones and martial artists at once; I want the Flesh's properties fully mapped by today." Jiang Yan's gaze sharpened; the mysterious Flesh was growing more fascinating.
"I'll set them up immediately," Dong Guangjie replied.
Moments later Yu Shuanghua finished the Flesh; his doppelgänger walked over and merged with him.
Bang-bang-bang! The winged woman in the cage battered the alloy bars.
Anxiety crossed her face for the first time. "Don't kill me—I'll work for you!"
No one answered. Jiang Yan asked Yu Shuanghua, "How do you feel? Can you win?"
Yu Shuanghua bowed respectfully. "President, eating her won't be a problem. Once I do, I should rival a top-tier Level Three Awakened."
Jiang Yan waved; Xie Gongming understood and shouted, "All personnel evacuate—cage opens in ten seconds!"
Clatter-clatter-clatter! Researchers gathering Monster data hurried out.
Only Jiang Yan, Xie Gongming, and Yu Shuanghua remained.
"Go—don't disappoint me," Jiang Yan said with a slight smile.
He led Xie Gongming aside to watch the special showdown.
Whirr! Machinery hummed and the Alloy Cage slid open.
"Hahaha—my darling, here I come!" Yu Shuanghua grinned savagely.
Pop! His forearms burst, spraying blood toward the charging woman.
White light flared from her Wings, boosting her speed.
Sssss! The blood covered the entire space; droplets splattered her and began to hiss, corroding her Flesh.
"Aghhh!" she screamed.
Pop! A thick, pink meat-tentacle shot into her open mouth, cutting the cry short.
The ten-centimeter-thick tendril, ending in a hideous maw, rammed down her throat.
Blood seeped out; the tentacle shredded her insides. After a few spasms she went limp.
Jiang Yan and Xie Gongming watched calmly until Yu Shuanghua had fully devoured her.
Riiip! A dozen Tentacles burst from his back, whipping wildly.
"Stronger than before—and still climbing," Jiang Yan murmured, pleased.
Though the stuff couldn't be controlled and lacked a counter-measure like buddha crystal,
it could throw the world into chaos.
He turned to Xie Gongming. "Tell Dong Guangjie to stop testing the Flesh and focus entirely on Crimson Demon. Once Lei Xiangchen returns, put him in charge; Han Qi and the other two will assist. Use the remaining Flesh to plunge this world into turmoil."
After eating this special Flesh, any further Flesh devoured would boost power without bottlenecks.
Jiang Yan couldn't imagine what the world would become once such creatures appeared.
"Understood!" Xie Gongming answered at once.
