Chapter 8 - Chapter VIII, Critical Error

"CRITICAL ERROR, SYSTEM COLLAPSE; ASSISTANCE REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY!"

The deep red message continues to blare over my Cybernetic Corneas that have finally regained sight despite being extremely blurry and full of static; my vitals reading as "CRITICAL, BPM 175BPM AND BLOOD PRESSURE RISEN TO DANGEROUS LEVELS, INTERNAL TEMPERATURE 39.7 DEGREES CELSIUS, CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM DAMAGED. ASSISTANCE REQUIRED IMMEDIATELY!"

"Fffffuuuuck." I groan weakly, tears leaving my eyes in pain as I hit the ground with my fist hard, the aftermath of the shock still running through my body and my head feeling like a pressurised watermelon before falling out of consciousness and regaining it once again.

I cough loudly as I dial trauma team on my flickering OS, laying on the floor weakly on the bloodied ground near the dumpter.

"This is Trauma team, what is your emergency?" A calm, smooth female operator asks on the other end of the call

"Need… help… Overclocked… Cyberdeck…" I mumble, falling out and back into consciousness again, panting loudly as my heart beats at extremely haste speed and my body feels tender and sensitive; my head still feeling like a pressurised balloon.

"Okay, we have your location. We'll be right there ma'am. Could you state your name and age?" She asks neutrally before I speak again.

"Ch-Chels- Chelsea… Lockheart." I answer whimpering and groaning on the cold floor, unable to move.

"Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea… Yeah i'm not seeing your trauma team coverage on our systems. Are you registered with any ongoing plan at this current ti-" She asks as I hang up, knowing i'm not going to receive any help anyways due to having no trauma team plans.

"CRITICAL ERROR, SYSTEM COLLAPSE, VITAL SIGNS LOW. DEATH IMMINENT IN 5 MINUTES."

The new message blares over my OS as I whimper, groan and cry in pain from the faded but ever lasting shock, my internal temperature only rising alongside my problems whilst my extremely sensitive body remains helplessly paralysed and laid on the cold stone floor.

"Th-This is it huh..? I- I fuckin' die like this..?" I slowly rise to my feet with a scream of pain; falling in to the ground again immediately after as i'm unable to sustain my weight, the reality of the situation dawning in on me.

I cry in anger, pain, sadness, fear and many more emotions at the same time, trying desperately for anything or anyone that could possibly help me in this situation but i'm out of luck. I am in just outside some random warehouse in an industrial area after all.

After 4 minutes of being laid here, slowly passing in and out of consciousness, my heart rate spikes again, pains hit my chest as my BPM increased to 180BPM and my blood pressure skyrockets as well.

1 minute.

Suddenly, as all hope is seemingly lost, a man sees me on the ground and quickly rushes over to me.

"Oh my god, what happened, are you okay?!" He asks with worry, his eyes wide as he touches my steaming, sensitive body, causing him to jolt his hand back.

"Did maelstrom do this to you?!" He questions as he takes out a maxdoc injector and jabs it into my arm, continuing to look at me in concern.

As he jabs me with the Maxdoc near seconds from flatlining in front of him, my heart rate dramatically slows, my blood pressure decreases and my internal temperature drops back to normal before beginning to climb again, dramatically increasing my odds of survival.

"N-No- Overclocked- Cyberdeck- surrounded- take me- Ripperdoc." I stammer out as he helps me rise, my arm thrown over his shoulder as he holds my weight.

"We'll get you to one right away, just hang in there okay?" He responds whilst he begins to help me walk, holding my weight as he takes me away from the scene.

Around a minute of our slow walk later, we arrive to the road where a standard blue painted Archer Quartz car, bringing me into the back seat before he gets in the drivers seat.

"Just hang in there." He repeats before moving to the drivers sear and beginning to drive me to the nearest ripperdoc as fast as he can.

Once we arrive, he parks in the side of the road and picks up my steaming body, hearing him make a pained noise as I probably burn his skin, being walked into a ripperdoc office and being put on a blue chair you'd see at your standard dental practice, my body twitching occasionally as it steams.

"She needs help, now!" The man calls to the ripper who look to him with wide eyes and nods, taking a tray of tools toward the chair and immediately walking to me.

"Don't worry; you're in good hands now. I've got ya." The ripperdoc speaks as he takes a cloth and sprays something on it before gently placing it over my face.

"G-get that fuckin' thing- offa-" I comment as he places the chloroform over my face, the man who helped me keeping my head in place so I breathe it in and pass out almost immediately.
