Chapter 26 - CH.26

Odin and Thanos remained locked in a fierce stalemate, their divine energies clashing violently, each unable to best the other. Yet with every passing second, Odin's anxiety grew. He had not anticipated that the purple-clad giant before him would possess such impenetrable defenses.

But I am in a divine state, he thought, every moment of endurance is costing me too much. This cannot become a war of attrition.

With a sudden surge of strength, Odin pushed Thanos away, stepping back to gather the full extent of his divine power. His body shimmered with golden light, and the space around him trembled under the weight of his aura. Even the nameless, icy planet beneath his feet quaked as the golden radiance expanded outward.

Thanos's expression hardened as he gripped the Tyrant Blade. His destructive energy surged, deep within his core, activating his active skill, Destructive Power. In an instant, his entire body glowed purple, the Tyrant Blade sprouting writhing energy tentacles that coiled with lethal intent.

Odin roared, raising the Spear of Eternity.

"Gods… forever!"

A surge of energy exploded from him, locking onto Thanos. Gun shadows—the manifested divine projections of his spear—shot forward relentlessly. They flew in countless numbers, converging on the Titan with overwhelming force.

Thanos braced himself, spinning the Tyrant Blade. The sound of ding-ding-dang-dang! echoed, metal against metal, a rhythmic symphony of battle. Yet still, the gunfire did not stop. Some shots broke through his defenses, scoring on his flesh, leaving searing marks. Though not life-threatening, they were far stronger than any previous attack—each shot now rivaled vibranium in hardness. Damage, if sustained, would accumulate.

Realizing this, Thanos extended his left hand, drawing destructive energy to its peak. He held the surge, waiting for the right moment. Odin's assault showed no signs of ceasing.

"Destroy!" he shouted, releasing the energy.

A blinding burst of purple light emanated from Thanos, briefly overshadowing Odin's golden aura. All the incoming gunfire shattered, vanquished in an instant. Yet even this powerful counterattack could not suppress Odin's relentless offensive. Golden light filled the sky again, a tidal wave of divine might.

But Thanos had anticipated this. A clever trick: he left behind a clone to absorb the ongoing assault while his real body darted away, charging toward Odin with lethal intent.

"Prepare to die!" he bellowed.

Odin froze his ultimate attack mid-stream and raised the Spear of Eternity to meet the oncoming Titan. Ding! The clash sent shockwaves across the fractured atmosphere. Despite Odin's divine enhancement, Thanos, now in dual-state, pushed him backward with terrifying force.

The two combatants skidded toward the planet's atmosphere, thunderous rumbling echoing from the cracking air. Bolts of lightning shot outward from the torn sky, but neither Odin nor Thanos were touched. Planetary-level disasters were inconsequential to beings of their magnitude.

Then, a deafening roar!

Thanos drove Odin like a comet, crashing him into the planet's crust. The ground quaked violently, fissures splitting the ice and rock. Volcanoes erupted, molten rock spewing into the sky. The planet, though smaller than the one they had destroyed before, strained under their combined force. Gravity pressed heavily at 1.4 times normal, while the atmosphere, already breached, had dropped to 0.8 atmospheres.

Thanos pressed forward, aiming to push Odin into the molten core. The strategy was clear: exhaustion and energy depletion could force a god to submission.

"Ah!" Odin roared, unleashing every ounce of his divine power to hold his ground.

But Thanos was relentless. Destructive energy surged, and the Tyrant Blade slashed downward. The clash rang again, clang! clang! echoing across the barren world. For over an hour, planet and divine forces collided. The planet groaned under the assault, its core splitting, fragments rocketing into the void. This was their second planetary casualty in as many battles.

Meanwhile, far from the chaos, the war beyond the stars was nearing its catastrophic conclusion.

Asgard's remaining medium and large warships, their energy reserves almost depleted, initiated space jumps, vanishing into the void. Small warships, drained of energy, were destroyed almost instantly.

Corvus Glaive proposed a spatial lockdown, sealing off the enemy fleet to annihilate them entirely. Yet both Superstar and Ebony Maw cautioned against it. Even a decisive victory would come at a terrible cost. Better to let a few escape than risk losing half the Black Order.

The generals debated supporting Thanos directly—but the topic was cut short as the second planet exploded, shaking the nearby system.

Even at the pinnacle of planetary-level power, even beings approaching sub-celestial strength were powerless against such destruction. Any fragment of debris could annihilate them instantly.

Watching the shattered planet on their display screens, Corvus Glaive's voice carried a hint of fear.

"Just how strong is the Lord? Even a planet is nothing more than a toy to him."

Proxima Midnight shook her head, eyes wide with awe.

"I don't know… but nothing else in the universe seems to come close to this."

Superstar's expression remained obscured, but his voice betrayed admiration.

"Yes," Ebony Maw whispered, fanatical. "All we can do is follow him. Where he sets his gaze, we conquer."

Only Black Dwarf remained silent, dumbfounded by the spectacle. After a long pause, he simply muttered…

"Holy… crap."

Back on the battlefield, Odin and Thanos hovered amidst the shards of the destroyed world. Odin's golden light blazed with intensity, yet the Titan's purple aura pressed against it relentlessly. Both were exhausted, yet neither could yield. Each strike could crumble mountains, each energy surge tear a planet apart.

For Odin, every second in Divine Descent drained his lifespan. For Thanos, each burst of destructive energy brought him closer to perfection. And yet, despite the cost, neither would relent.

The universe itself seemed to hold its breath, watching as two of its most formidable beings battled with the fury of gods, reshaping planets, bending reality, and leaving entire star systems to tremble in their wake.
