Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Door That Finally Opened

The next day Morning sunlight filtered through the tall glass windows of the servants' quarters, casting a soft golden glow across the neatly arranged room.

Adrian had barely slept the previous night. His mind was restless—filled with unanswered questions, silent hopes, and fears he refused to name. Just as he was organizing his files for the day, his phone rang. An unknown number, for a moment, he hesitated before answering.

"Yes?" he said carefully.

A formal voice replied, calm and professional.

"Good morning, Mr. Adrian. We're calling from the admissions office of Aurelion Crown Academy."

Adrian's heart skipped a beat.

"We're pleased to inform you that your sister's admission has been confirmed."

For a second, Adrian thought he had misheard.

"…I'm sorry?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Your sister, Ms. Nyra , has been officially accepted into Aurelion Crown Academy," the voice repeated. "She is expected to join next week. You may accompany her."

The phone nearly slipped from Adrian's hand.

His mind went blank.

This… this was unbelievable.

Aurelion Crown Academy wasn't just another elite institution—it was a fortress of privilege. Even the richest families waited years for a single seat. A person can only get a seat of if he/she has a strong talent . Even though the Academy mainly focuses on talent, a great influence is also needed.

"T-thank you," Adrian finally said, his throat tightening. "Thank you so much."

"You're welcome, sir. We'll be sending the details shortly."

The call ended.

Adrian stood frozen in the middle of the room.

His dream—no, his life-long prayer—had just been answered.

He let out a shaky breath and closed his eyes.

He actually helped me…

Jason Ashford.

The man who rarely showed mercy.

The man who never gave favors without reason.

Adrian had always believed his boss would never help someone like him. But this time… Jason had surprised him.

Wiping the moisture forming in his eyes, Adrian straightened his posture and headed toward the dining hall.

The dining hall of the Ashford estate was nothing short of breathtaking.

Long marble tables, gold-accented chairs, crystal chandeliers hanging like frozen stars above. Every detail screamed power, wealth, and control.

Jason sat at the head of the table, dressed in a crisp black shirt, sleeves rolled casually to his elbows. He was finishing his breakfast with effortless elegance, scrolling through his phone .

Behind him stood Kairen, his posture straight, eyes sharp—always alert, always calculating.

Adrian approached slowly.

"Boss," he said respectfully, bowing his head slightly. "Thank you very much… for helping my sister get admission."

Jason didn't look up immediately.

But Kairen did.

"What?" Kairen turned sharply. "Admission? Your sister?"

His eyes widened in disbelief.

"When did that happen?"

Jason finally lifted his gaze.

"Yeah I recommended"

Kairen's expression darkened.

"Why him? he thought bitterly. Only my sister deserves that academy."

Jason took another sip of his coffee before speaking again.

" But don't misunderstand," he said coldly. "I don't give recommendations for free."

Adrian's heart sank.

"There will be work," Jason continued. "Your sister will have to earn her place."

Kairen's lips curled into a sly smile.

"Work?" he echoed mockingly. "That suits people like them. Cleaning, maybe? Maid duties? Servant work would be perfect."

Adrian clenched his fists but remained silent.

Jason's eyes flickered briefly toward Kairen.

"It's not just for Adrian's sister," Jason said. "Your sister will do the same."

Kairen froze.

"…What?" he asked, stunned.

Jason's voice was firm. "No exceptions."

A moment passed.

Then Kairen forced a smile. "Of course, Boss. My sister can handle any work you give her."

Adrian nodded as well. "Mine too."

Jason stood up from his chair.

"One more thing," he added. "Your sisters will stay here—under my roof." If they did any mistakes you both will have the consequences too.

With that, he turned and walked away.

No explanation.

No discussion.

Just an order.

Everyone working under Jason knew one thing well:

He wasn't just powerful.

He was dangerous.

Any mistake—no matter how small—came with consequences. Severe ones.

Adrian swallowed hard.

Still… if this was the price for Nyra's future, he would accept anything.

Later that afternoon, Adrian sat at his desk, buried under stacks of files. Numbers blurred before his eyes, but his mind was far away.

Then his phone vibrated again.

This time, the name on the screen made his lips curve into a soft smile.

Nyra

He answered instantly.

"Bro…" Her voice came through, soft and emotional. "When will you come and take me from the hostel? I miss you so much."

Adrian's eyes filled with tears.

She was the only family he had left.

The only person tied to him by blood and love.

They had been separated for years—him struggling to survive, her growing up without him.

"My little munchkin," he said gently, his voice shaking. "You won't have to stay there anymore."

Nyra paused.

"I got admission for you," he continued. "In Aurelion Crown Academy."

There was silence.

Then—

"What?!" Nyra nearly shouted. "Bro, are you serious?"

He laughed softly. "Yes. I'm coming tomorrow. One o'clock sharp. Pack your things."

"You're coming tomorrow?" she asked breathlessly. "Really?"

"Yes. And we'll go out for lunch. You can eat anything you want."

Nyra's happiness burst through the phone.

"Okay! I'll be ready! Love you bro.

love you too ," Adrian said quietly.

They ended the call.

Nyra sat on her hostel bed, clutching her phone to her chest.

For the first time in years, her heart felt light.

She had endured loneliness, sacrifices, and silent tears—but tomorrow, her brother would come for her.

She never spended a good quality time with her brother, all her life was full of pain and struggles.

She was so excited that she can't express her emotions, she was waiting for this time for so long .

After many years she is going to stay with her brother.

What works will Jason give to Nyra ?

Will it be a maid work ?
