Three days after Avari is hospitalized by one of the husk lords, Seku ventures into the city in search of clues to locate the husk lords.
Seku sought vengeance against the husk lords for nearly taking her sister's life. His anger drove him to purchase dual daggers resembling Avari's own.
"This will suffice; I cannot eliminate them swiftly if I am merely swinging my staff around, can I?" Seku mused as he continued to wander through the city.
As Seku wandered through the vast city, he heard the voice once more; it was the same voice he had encountered before his rebirth on this planet.
"Hey, I heard you have grown stronger. That's good because now I can communicate with you," the voice stated, causing pain to surge in Seku's head.
The voice trailed Seku as he reached an alleyway, clutching his head in agony.
"Get out of my head! What do you want from me?" Seku shouted, overwhelmed by the intensity of the pain.
"I simply wish to convey one message: become stronger, then go to the Nightfall Academy. The library there holds the answers you seek regarding the husk lords," the voice replied, easing the pain slightly.
"That's helpful, but I forgot to ask, who are you? Should I just refer to you as 'the Voice'?" Seku inquired, perplexed since this was only the second time they had conversed.
The voice paused momentarily before continuing, "Ah, right, introductions. I am what you would call a god, one of the seven who have ever walked this planet."
"What is your name, so I can trust you more?" Seku asked, raising an eyebrow in confusion once again.
"I cannot disclose my full name, or you would faint from the pain of hearing it," the voice responded honestly, aware that its full name could incapacitate anyone too weak.
"Can you at least share your title?" Seku asked, nodding in understanding of the limitations his ears and mind had regarding the voice's power.
The voice paused again before speaking, "Oh yes, my title. I am the Shadow King, or what you refer to as the Incarnate of the Sin of Wrath."
"Alright, time's up. Remember to grow stronger and apply to the Nightfall Academy; it is one of the finest in all seven kingdoms," the voice instructed before vanishing from Seku's mind.
Meanwhile, back at home, Avari was being cared for by Angelita and Isaias, who was also retired from combat.
"Do not move, Avari; you still face the risk of death even from a simple fall," Angelita cautioned as she noticed her daughter attempting to get out of bed.
"I do not care; I need to see Seku. He is out there and has very little combat experience," Avari insisted, appearing as though she had the flu.
"Do not worry, for I have people to spy on... I mean, look after him," Isaias remarked, but he quickly realized how that sounded and felt embarrassed.
"Well, I just want my baby brother to be safe," Avari said with a smile, confident that Seku would seek revenge for her, no matter the circumstances.
What they are unaware of is that Seku was set to take part in the Nightfall Academy entrance examination in two days.
Meanwhile, in the city, Seku continued to ponder as he searched for the location of the academy.
"I must locate the academy, and then I will devise a plan to avenge my sister," he declared to himself with resolve, as he was determined to seek revenge for Avari.
Will Seku's resolve enable him to succeed in the entrance exams on his initial attempt, or will he encounter failure and need to seek an alternative method to defeat the husk lords.
