Chapter 235 - Again

Segementum Obscurus, Covenant!

Unexpectedly, after such a long detour, it still came back to the covenant that the ancestors and the Emperor made before the Golden Throne in the Imperial Palace on Terra.

Combined with what old man Arthur said, the previous family head disappeared because she went to the Segementum Obscurus to find a lost treasure of the Emrys family related to the Golden Human, could it be that the so-called covenant was to make them retrieve that item?

No, no, no—that item was lost, meaning it was once in the hands of the Emrys family, but then it was lost, which is why it's 'lost'.

Perhaps only by finding that item can the contents of the 'covenant' be known?

Emrys' thoughts grew more and more chaotic, with a myriad of ideas.

He had thought he would get an answer, but unexpectedly, after asking, his confusion only grew. Unable to get an answer from Dante, Emrys then turned his attention to Morgana.

He picked up the bewildered Morgana, ruffled her dry, yellow hair, and asked affectionately, "Morgana, what exactly did you tell Dante? Can you tell your brother?"

"Hm?"

Morgana looked at him blankly, her two dark eyes full of confusion.

...

From that expression, Emrys knew it was hopeless and couldn't help but grumble inwardly.

Damn yellow-skinned creature, why be a riddler of all things? Get out of Gotham!

Emrys, having completely given up on the idea, was too lazy to delve deeper. That was just his personality; since he couldn't figure it out anyway, he might as well save some brain cells.

The short Warp journey was quick; in just half a day, they returned to the Underworld Star System.

The first chosen stop was naturally the system's capital, the 'Other Bhikkhu', a civilized world with tens of billions of people, complete industrial power, and abundant resources.

The planetary general here, Drext, had spoken with him before, and was well aware of Emrys' arrival and his mission.

"Thank you very much, Count Emrys." Drext's face showed some gratitude, for if it weren't for Emrys, this civilized world would probably have faced destruction.

Incidentally, after the Battle of Vigilus ended, Chapter master Kargal officially proposed Emrys' ennoblement to the High Lord Council, which led to this scene. Emrys, who had not yet officially inherited the dynasty, already held the title of 'Second Class Count'.

"With all due respect, have you thought about how to deal with these nobles?" Drext expressed concern, as the nobles entrenched here had been developing for many years, like a festering sore in the Imperium, difficult to eradicate.

Even he had suffered a lot when he first arrived, being tripped up by those nobles in secret, so he naturally held some resentment.

"Don't worry, General." Emrys smiled and patted his shoulder.

"To be honest, I'm best at persuading people."

Persuading people?

Drext smiled wryly and shook his head, but dared not say more, only hoping that with the names of the Lord of Baal and the Lord of Sacred Blood, those nobles would not interfere too much with this migration plan.

If he had to say, the most difficult part of this migration plan was not the Tyranids, but how to persuade these nobles to abandon their expensive assets and leave this world.

Soon, at Emrys' direction, the noble council of Other Bhikkhu was officially convened.

There were hundreds of thousands of nobles on this civilized world, but only a few hundred were qualified to participate in the discussions. Yet, even so, these hundreds of high-ranking nobles, who controlled various resources of Other Bhikkhu, were a force not to be underestimated.

"Today, I have gathered you all here for a matter that I believe some of you already know about in advance: the relocation of Other Bhikkhu's assets and population." Emrys looked at everyone and smiled.

"We already know about this." One of the nobles, fat-headed and big-eared, with pale skin, looking extremely disgusting, shook his large belly and said arrogantly.

"Of course we will be the first to evacuate—and my garden must also be moved entirely! Those are all my favorite flowers!"

"That's right, that's right, and all our property must be moved."

The nobles below chattered, discussing what to move. They thought of gardens, planted trees, and even every floor tile, but not a single person mentioned the commoners.

Very good. Seeing this, Emrys' last trace of guilt completely vanished.

He had no need to consider these beasts anymore.

Thump thump thump!

Emrys tapped the armrest, signaling them to calm down, then smiled.

"Gentlemen, when did I say you would be the first to evacuate?"

The nobles were stunned by his words, and many of them turned pale. Several directly jumped up, pointing at his nose and scolding.

"Do you know what you're saying? We are nobles of the Imperium! If you don't let us evacuate first, are you going to let those damned soldiers evacuate?!"

Emrys' face instantly darkened, his eyes chilling.

"I don't like being pointed at. It's very rude, and I—hate rude people the most!"

As his voice fell, Jackal darted out, swung his blade, and directly severed the entire arm of the noble who had pointed at him!

"Ah, ah, ah—"

The noble screamed, clutching his severed arm, his face full of terror.

"You, you actually let your guard attack me? This is a crime! Someone, quick, kill him!"

But unfortunately, as soon as that person's words left his mouth, the guards brought by the nobles in the meeting hall were about to act when a member of the Blood Angels Honor Guard, clad in golden armor, drew his chainsword and struck down that noble!

"Merlin Emrys , by order of the Lord of Baal and the Lord of Sacred Blood, is executing the transfer mission. Anyone who dares to threaten will be considered a rebel and killed!"

The chilling voice of the Blood Angels Honor Guard and their cold masks made all the nobles tremble.

This was the Blood Angels Honor Guard of Dante, the Lord of Sacred Blood, as if he himself were present. Who would dare to act presumptuously? Even if you had ten times the courage, are you not afraid of death?!

The fourteen Blood Angels Honor Guard, like towering walls, exuded a terrifying pressure, immediately making the nobles in the entire meeting hall dare not speak carelessly again.

Because they knew very well that the laws of the Imperium and the status of nobles could not restrain these Blood Angels Honor Guard, and it was even less possible to make them retreat even half a step; they truly dared to kill people!

"Very good, it seems you have all learned the good habit of listening in silence when others are speaking."

Emrys sat in his chair, resting his chin, a smile on his face, yet in the horrified gaze of the nobles, he uttered words like a daemon.

"Since you are nobles, enjoying the Imperium's offerings for generations, then now, when the Imperium is in peril, shouldn't you also make some contribution to the Imperium?"

"You, what do you want us to do?"

A noble swallowed hard, looking at Emrys' disgusted eyes, a bad feeling surging in his heart, and asked tremblingly.

"It's very simple. I ask all you nobles to—die for the Imperium." Emrys smiled.

"The front line is still lacking combat power. The wealth and armaments you have hoarded for so many years should be put to use. It will just buy us some time to relocate the population and resources."

With that, his eyes were cold. He seemed to be smiling, but it sent shivers down the spines of all the nobles.

"Nobles guarding the nation's gates—this is the noble virtue that our Imperium of Man, inheriting the will of Holy Terra, should display, isn't it?"
