Chapter 130: He Exploded
Tatsumaki hovered in mid-air, her violent and condensed psychokinesis swirling around her to form a faint green barrier.
She stared at the distant multi-colored pillar of light that was still pulsing with energy. Though her gaze was solemn, her words remained sharp and mocking:
"Hmph! Just a show-off playing god. Once I drag this bastard out, I'm going to twist him into a pretzel!"
As expected of Miss Tatsumaki! Even now, she is full of disdain for her opponent!
The muscular Superalloy Darkshine took a peek at Tatsumaki floating above and couldn't help but give a mental thumbs-up.
In that case, I shouldn't feel nervous either. My muscles will give me the answer. Perfect muscles will bring me the ultimate power!
Darkshine struck a pose. Every slab of his marble-carved muscles radiated a glossy, metallic luster. He looked like an ancient Greek sculpture—robust and filled with aesthetic perfection.
Feeling the rhythmic power of his physical strength, Darkshine's tension evaporated, replaced by his unparalleled confidence.
Flashy Flash's eyes were fixed forward. His right hand was already resting on the hilt of his sword at his waist. At the first sign of trouble, he would draw his blade with the speed of a lightning strike.
Atomic Samurai had shed his usual casual playfulness. He stared ahead with sharp eyes as he drew his sword. The blade glinted coldly in the sun, and the toothpick he was chewing on snapped under his focus.
"Let's see just how powerful this guy called 'GOD' is. But I promise you, the blade in my hand is sharper."
"I'll scout ahead. Stay fifty meters behind me."
Zombieman's calm voice rang out. He held two massive custom handguns, a lit cigarette dangling from his lips. Enveloped in a cloud of smoke, he strode forward into the unknown.
No one objected. Since Zombieman possessed a near-immortal body, he was the logical choice for a point-man to gather intel.
The other S-Class heroes followed fifty meters behind him, all on high alert. The only sound in the field was the constant chewing of Pig God.
Oh, and the sound of Watchdog Man using his hind leg to scratch an itch.
"Oi oi oi... Don't tell me everyone in City Z is already dead? Why is it so quiet? Or were they all kidnapped?"
Metal Bat gripped his bat with both hands, his arm muscles bulging. His eyes scanned the surroundings, ready to launch a crushing blow at a moment's notice.
Bang had long since joined the other S-Class heroes. The internal force of the Water Stream Rock Smashing Fist was circulating through his meridians, primed for a burst.
He frowned, his aged face covered in deep wrinkles.
"Indeed, this is too eerie. City Z has a population of over ten million. It shouldn't be this silent.
"Rather than everyone being slaughtered, I suspect the enemy has used a special method to put the entire population into a coma."
Bang's words caused the others to fall into thought.
It was true. If the enemy had killed everyone, the scene would be far more gruesome. If ten million people had died, the ground would be a river of blood and the air would be thick with the scent of iron.
Instead, they were walking through a literal Dead Zone.
From a perspective the S-Class heroes couldn't see, the entirety of City Z had been encased in a semi-transparent layer of chaotic energy, covering the city like an inverted bowl.
Hero Association Headquarters.
The control room was in total disarray. Staff members stared anxiously at the main screen, which was flashing red. Their faces were pale with dread.
"Cannot contact S-Class Hero: Zombieman! Status: Missing!"
"Cannot contact S-Class Hero: Silver Fang! Status: Missing!"
"All deployed S-Class heroes have lost contact! Preliminary assessment: They have entered a signal-blocking zone! Satellites cannot observe the area!"
Hearing the wave of bad news, Sitch collapsed into his chair. His silver hair seemed to turn even whiter.
Keep fighting, heroes...
If all the S-Class heroes—the symbols of humanity's highest combat power—were to fall in this disaster, then humanity would effectively be finished.
Sitch stared at the satellite feed with unshakeable despair. This sense of powerlessness was even stronger than during the alien invasion.
On the screen, the multi-colored light pillar had erupted through the atmosphere, shooting straight into the deep cosmos. It truly bridged heaven and earth.
This level of manifestation was far beyond any monster seen before. It even eclipsed Boros, whom the Association had classified as a God-level threat.
Even though the S-Class heroes were powerful, Sitch couldn't stop himself from worrying in the face of such a terrifying enemy.
However...
In Sitch's heart, there was one final line of defense.
As long as THAT man has not failed, then humanity has not failed!
Humanity's last hope... the Strongest Man on Earth... King!
Even if every other S-Class hero fell, as long as King remained standing, humanity could still find a sliver of dawn in the blackest night!

The group held their formation tightly. Against such an unknown threat, even S-Class heroes dared not be arrogant.
Suddenly, Child Emperor's radar beeped. His pupils constricted, and he shouted urgently:
"Bad news! Five high-energy signatures are closing in rapidly! Bearing: Nine o'clock! Zombieman, look out!"
Zombieman's eyes sharpened. He swung his dual pistols, aiming the dark barrels in the direction Child Emperor indicated, his brown trench coat fluttering in the wind.
"Copy that."
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The muzzles flashed brilliantly as bullets tore through the air.
In the very next instant, Zombieman only sensed a streak of deep blue light flashing past.
BOOM!
His head exploded. Like a ripe watermelon hit by a sledgehammer, it burst apart. Red and white matter splattered across the pavement like rain.
