The consequence didn't come with anger.

That was how I knew persuasion had failed.

No sharp emails. No veiled warnings. No disappointed tone meant to make me second-guess myself. The system didn't sulk when it lost leverage.

It was reclassified.

I learned that at 9:17 a.m., when my hospital access badge failed at a door it had opened for years.

Not every door.

The doors that failed were not random. They were specific.

Restricted corridors. Administrative wings. Places that required not just credentials, but trust. The system hadn't erased me—it had narrowed me. Reduced my movement to what could be justified without explanation. That distinction mattered.

Reassignment isn't exile. It's containment.
