Chapter 7 — The Boy Heaven Favors
The battlefield had fallen silent.
Only blood, shattered blades, and the faint metallic scent drifting through the breeze remained as the caravan slowly recovered from shock. Guards dragged corpses aside, some collapsing from exhaustion. Merchants cried in relief. A few prayed.
Meanwhile…
He simply stood there.
Calm and unmoved, as if everything that happened was nothing more than dust blown away by the wind.
A gentle breeze passed, lifting his long black hair slightly. His robe fluttered softly. He stood straight, calm and composed—like a banished immortal accidentally wandering into the mortal world.
That was when someone came out.
From the largest carriage—the one clearly belonging to someone important.
Guards immediately straightened, Respectful gazes followed him.
Even silence instinctively welcomed him.
He walked with controlled confidence. Not loud arrogance.
The kind that didn't need to prove itself—because it believed the world already belonged to him.
He looked around fourteen or fifteen. Tall for his age. Black hair tied loosely with a jade clasp. Sword-shaped brows. Bright, self-assured eyes.
He wore an azure silk robe embroidered with delicate golden cloud patterns—luxury only great powers could afford.
A jade pendant hung at his waist, faintly pulsing with spiritual light.
He approached slowly, every step steady and assured, as if even the ground naturally supported him.
People unconsciously moved aside.
Liu Qingxue shifted slightly behind him.
Her instinct warned her.
This boy didn't have any good intentions.
He finally stopped before them, hands behind his back, chin raised slightly. His eyes scanned him briefly—
Then his gaze lingered on Liu Qingxue.
Long black hair flowed softly.
Her bright eyes still carried firmness from the earlier battle.
Dust stained her clothing…
Yet she seemed untouched by filth.
Pure, Soft and Resilient.
Interest, greed, and possession flickered in his eyes, but It disappeared instantly—but Su Xiaoyao noticed.
Lin Tian turned back to him with a refined smile.
He clasped his hands, then said with a warm and polite voice,
"Thank you for lending a hand earlier."
He looked like a gentleman.
If one didn't pay attention… he appeared flawless.
But beneath the politeness and the smile…
If one paid attention, they could feel the arrogance and disdain hidden underneath.
And for just a moment, Su xaioyao sensed a sharp killing intent—then it vanished.
A normal cultivator would not be able to sense it.
But to Su xiaoyao, it was as clear as moonlight in the dark.
It didn't affect him.
He was only surprised—he had never offended him.
So he used his Eye of Truth.
DING
["Luck Value Detected."]
["Target Identified — Lin Tian."]
[Realm: Qi Refining 7th realm(Real realm: Foundation Establishment 3rd stage)]
["Background: Son of the head of the Lin Family (Son of the Saintess of a sect of a higher world, separated after birth)."]
["Host strength insufficient for further probe."]
[Luck Value: 56000]
A proper protagonist template.
Now he understood why hostility surfaced—it seemed he had ruined Lin Tian's opportunity to show off.
Good.
He spoke.
"I am Lin Tian, of the Lin Family. Perhaps this was fate arranging our meeting."
Guards watched respectfully.
Merchants looked reverent.
Lin Tian.
Su xiaoyao didn't respond.
'Those who showed him respect—he returned it.'
'Those who showed hostility—their result was only death or ruin.'
Several guards stiffened.
Even the wind paused awkwardly.
Liu Qingxue blinked once.
Seconds passed.
Lin Tian's smiling lips twitched slightly—
Barely visible—
Then he straightened as if nothing had happened.
"Heh," he chuckled lightly. "Calm. I like it. Not many boys your age remain composed after bloodshed."
His words praised him.
His eyes showed annoyance and irritation.
Something about him didn't follow Lin Tian's plan.
He was used to everything going in his favor.
He was never disrespected.
Then Lin Tian's gaze turned to Liu Qingxue.
His eyes softened, his smile warm, his voice gentle—
Like a perfect young master.
"Little sister, you must have been frightened. Are you hurt anywhere?"
Liu Qingxue blinked softly, then shook her head. Her voice was steady.
"I wasn't afraid. Brother Xiaoyao was present."
Her small hand tightened faintly on his sleeve.
Not hiding.
Just choosing to stand beside him.
Lin Tian's pupils narrowed slightly.
He didn't like that—the woman he had his eyes on was close to another man.
He glanced at him again.
A quiet pressure surrounded Su xiaoyao—
Not forced.
Natural.
Several caravan women accidentally blushed after looking too long.
A few guards subconsciously avoided his gaze.
Lin Tian noticed and he hated it.
The caravan captain bowed gratefully.
"Young Master Lin, this benefactor saved us! If not for him—"
Lin Tian gently raised his hand.
Then he looked at them again.
"To show gratitude, why don't you travel with us? We're heading to Azure Cloud Town. The road is dangerous. Traveling together will be safer."
Even though it looked like gratitude, his voice carried the tone of bestowing favor.
Any normal traveler would kneel in gratitude.
Liu Qingxue slightly opened her mouth—
Su Xiaoyao spoke calmly.
"No need."
Lin Tian paused.
Few people refused him—but this boy repeatedly opposed him.
His smile remained.
But emptier now.
"Oh? Traveling alone isn't very safe."
"It's fine."
"You don't trust us?"
Su xiaoyao replied casually "I trust my strength,You saw it"
Silence again.
Lin Tian felt this boy was his natural nemesis.
Someone coughed awkwardly.
Lin Tian finally laughed.
A bit too bright.
"I see… very independent."
His tone stayed kind but his pupils didn't, it stung his self esteem and he was already annoyed that his plan was destroyed by him.
He studied Su xaioyao again, His black hair flowing softly, Robe fluttering faintly and his Expression tranquil.
Lin Tian finally turned.
"I hope fate lets us meet again.", his words were warm but his tone wasn't
The caravan bowed.
Yells organized formation.
Order returned.
Before he mounted his spirit horse—
A strong middle-aged man approached and clasped his hands deeply.
"Benefactor, thank you for saving our Lin Caravan. If you ever come to Azure Cloud Town, please visit the Lin Family. We will repay this kindness properly!"
"No need," Su Xiaoyao replied calmly. "I merely helped when convenient."
"Even so, we owe you our lives. Please don't refuse kindness."
seeing his insistence and he had some plans so Su xiaoyao replied "…If I visit Azure Cloud Town, I will drop by."
Su xiaoyao then asked about the nearest town.
The man added, "It's best if you don't go to that town. It's lawless—criminals run rampant."
He happily bowed again.
Lin Tian mounted, cloak flowing like a young noble hero.
Before leaving—
He looked at Liu Qingxue once more.
Gentle gaze.
…but filled with ownership.
Like he had already marked her as his future possession.
Then the caravan rolled away, Dust rising and wheels grinding, the noise slowly fading until silence returned
The wind brushed the grass and the metallic scent slowly dispersed.
Liu Qingxue looked up at him.
Confusion and unease flickered in her eyes.
"Brother Xiaoyao… that boy…"
"Lin Tian," he said softly.
"He is a Treasure Boy."
Liu Qingxue blinked. "A… what?"
He rarely explained the system. But she deserved this much truth.
"Heaven protects him. Luck shields him. Opportunities chase him. Fate bends around him."
She swallowed. "…Is that bad?"
He looked toward the fading caravan dust.
"That depends on where you stand."
"If you walk beside him… Heaven opens paths."
"But if you stand against him…"
The wind paused. Even nature listened.
"…Heaven crushes you."
Her fingers tightened on his sleeve. "Then… will he become our enemy?"
He closed his eyes briefly.
If he couldn't even handle a beginner Son of Fortune… what right did he have to stand above Heaven?
He could gain treasures, escape death, rise again and again.
That was what Heaven's Favored did.
But only if fate was allowed to flow.
And he…
…didn't allow fate to move freely.
"Don't worry," he said softly.
Inside, a colder voice whispered:
If Heaven favors him too much… then I'll tear Heaven apart.
The moment Lin Tian developed malice toward him or Liu Qingxue…
His ending was already sealed.
She didn't fully understand and she didn't need to, she only needed to stay beside him.
The wind carried the remaining scent away.
The forest grew peaceful again.
A battle ended.
A Son of Fortune appeared.
And Su Xiaoyao smiled faintly, his face Calm and Unshaken.
Like a banished immortal watching the mortal world.
He had already left the beginner village.
Let's see how Heaven entertains him from now on.
He hoped it wouldn't be boring.
A cold smile appeared on his face.
"Brother Xiaoyao, where are we going next?"
He replied calmly,
"We are going to the nearest town—Black Rock Town."
And then—
They started their journey toward Black Rock Town.
