The manor door closed behind her with a slam.
Kara went down the steps without really feeling her feet. The night air was cool, but she paid no attention to it. A dull pain squeezed her chest. Not a physical pain... It was something else.
She inhaled.
'Why do I feel this way?!' she thought, slowly placing her hand under her chest, trying to touch or maybe soothe that pain.
But nothing worked; every time she tried to calm down, the image of Kaiser passionately kissing Eleanor, of all people, just drove her out of her mind.
'Maybe it wasn't that,' she began, struggling to make sense of what she had seen in a way that suited her. "Eleanor," she muttered softly.
She hadn't seen everything, but enough.
The dim light of the lounge. Eleanor's silhouette. The closeness. Kaiser's hand on her waist. The kiss. 'Why the hell would that arrogant woman want Kaiser… anyway why do all his girls flock around him, what the fuck is so special about him?'
