Chapter 41 - The Deal with the Red Dragon Queen

"You have completed the task of saving the red dragon witch: Alexstrasza is imprisoned by the orcs in Grim Batol Fortress. The orcs are studying how to enslave the red dragons. Save the red dragon queen, and you will receive a generous reward. Task reward: Red Dragon Legion reputation: Revered, unlock professions."

"Ding, your reputation with the Red Dragon Legion is now Revered, and you can purchase items from the supply officer at the Wyrmrest Temple. You have a chance to get the red dragons to help you when you encounter them in the wild. "

"Ding, you have unlocked professional skills. You automatically gain gathering and crafting skills, with a current proficiency of one. The higher your gathering skill level, the more items you can gather at once and the shorter the gathering time. The higher your crafting skill level, the fewer materials you consume per creation and the higher the quality. "

Looking at the alluring Red Dragon Queen before him, Arthas thought for a moment and made a request. Alexstrasza was somewhat surprised, casting a playful glance at Arthas, "Little human prince, are you sure? This request is very simple; you saved me, and you can ask for more!"

"No need, just two small requests. I didn't save you to seek rewards." Arthas shook his head; he wasn't blinded by beauty nor pretending to be a saint. He was patiently looking for bigger opportunities; he needed to travel to the Kalimdor continent, and having the assistance of red dragons would save him a lot of time. Establishing a base there wasn't so simple either, with a wild environment and dangerous enemies, having a long-term ally's help was crucial.

Alexstrasza had seen many humans; in fact, she had observed many of these degenerated titan creations turned into flesh-and-blood beings like her. However, humans are very greedy; she thought this human would make outrageous demands.

Unexpectedly, it was just a minor request, and she agreed on the spot. Although she was shocked, she found it somewhat common. "You have a kind of aura about you that I find very familiar; could you share your extraordinary experience?"

Alexstrasza elegantly sat on a rock, her gentle and graceful demeanor completely hiding the fact that she had previously been imprisoned. The dragon horns on her head were adorned with two gold ringed earrings, making her appear dignified and elegant. She kept her legs together, tilting slightly to one side, exuding a goddess-like charm that even Arthas had to admit; she was a woman of exceptional personal appeal.

"Ding, you have triggered the quest to gain Alexstrasza (chain quest). Your desires are endless; you wish to possess Alexstrasza, yet with your current strength, you cannot attain her. You can only achieve your ambitions through certain skills and means. Strive for this dream; one day you will ride this noble mother dragon!"

"Gain Alexstrasza (1): Use the Essence of Life to seal her desire for a month. (This effect can slightly increase her guardian power) Unlock the next task at level 30. Task Reward: 10% increased energy recovery rate, 10% reduced cooldown time."

After seeing this task, Arthas was stunned. What the hell is this? Energy recovery speed? Cooldown? He looked at the air and then at the Red Dragon Queen, taking out another unused Essence of Life.

"I inadvertently received a blessing from a supreme existence; I can occasionally create such essences that can extend life and enhance energy."

Alexstrasza sniffed with her delicate nose, and a hint of surprise flashed across her elegant face; she could feel the power within this essence, capable of strengthening her. She even felt an urge to seize it; ever since she infused part of her power into the Dragon Soul millennia ago, their powers had decreased significantly.

For thousands of years, they couldn't recover; it was an irreversible act. Now that there was a chance to restore her power, how could she not be excited? If she could return to her prime, even if the Dragon Soul suppressed dragons, she would not be as desperate as before and could leave gracefully!

"The way to use this thing is quite special; um, I meant to use it for my wife and myself." Arthas scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

A radiant smile graced Alexstrasza's beautiful face; she quickly caught the loophole in Arthas's words, "You said you could produce this essence?"

"Well, it depends on the timing and my mood. If I mate with a woman and when they're stronger, there's a high probability this essence can be produced. Cough, that's also why it's so rare." Arthas felt a little embarrassed; it was all an act. This naive young man could easily pique the interest of older women. A little fox, a ten-thousand-year-old fox spirit, this battle was really hard to say.

"Can you give it to me? I can bestow you and your wives with eternal life and immunity to diseases, as long as you give me this essence." Alexstrasza proposed the trade; anything that could restore her power was worth fighting for.

This encounter had been a wake up call for her. If it weren't for Arthas unexpectedly defeating the orc warlock, she would probably face the fate of madly mating with partners and laying dragon eggs, watching her offspring be enslaved, and their destiny subjected to filthy orc bondage.

Although it was unlikely for orcs to do such things with red dragons, the fate of being used as a breeding tool was certainly unpleasant, transforming from a noble queen into a mere breeding vessel—who could bear that?

Fortunately, the orcs hadn't had the chance to execute their plans yet, and Alexstrasza had escaped her dire predicament, which also triggered her intense sense of crisis.

Arthas was overjoyed inside; eternal life seemed incredibly hard to obtain, a matter of insufficient power and luck. The ancient night elf race enjoyed eternal life, blessed by guardian dragons, hence their treatment. It was not surprising that the Red Dragon Queen could bestow eternal life. Eternal life does not mean one cannot die; it merely means one does not age or die of old age.

However, one can still be killed, fall to sickness, choke, or die in an accident; it is not invincibility, merely freed from the constraints of a lifespan. This is what many mortal races desire, even dwarves and gnomes, whose lifespans barely reach three hundred years, and stronger ones may live to five hundred. High elves have an average lifespan of about five thousand years, while Tauren can live up to two hundred years, with some long-lived ones reaching three hundred.
