Chapter 24 - Slaying the Death Knight

Puff! The Death Knight raised the slain Alliance soldiers once again, turning them into mindless zombies, somewhat similar to ghouls, but without the infection capabilities of zombies.

"Hehe!" The leading Death Knight let out a sinister laugh and sent several charging Alliance warriors flying.

Grabbing one of the soldiers, he pulled with all his might, literally tearing him in half! Thud, the bloody corpse was thrown onto the battlefield, and the surrounding Alliance soldiers were filled with fear.

However, the Orc soldiers charged with renewed vigor, howling as they launched their attack, momentarily suppressing the Alliance's offensive!!

A Holy Light shield flew in from a distance; Teron Gorefiend initially didn't care and swatted the shield away. However, the burst of light caused him a long-forgotten sting, one that pierced directly into his soul. This caught his attention, and turning around, he saw his target, the valiant prince!

"Ding, quest obtained: Slay the Death Knight."

"Slay the Death Knight: These twisted beings who have desecrated souls have attracted the attention of the Holy Light. Eliminate them to gain specialization advancement and resurrection spells. Slay Death Knights 0/10."

"Desecrator of souls, die!" Arthas commanded his troops to move in closer, using the royal guard to break through the Orcs' defenses and create space for the infantry coming up behind.

Boom! Arthas clashed with the Death Knight, his arm went slightly numb; these undead beings could unleash 100% of their power without feeling any pain or fear, not considering whether they would damage their bodies in their attacks, after all, they were already dead.

"You're weak, little prince!" Teron Gorefiend sneered, thinking that his opponent was stronger!

"Katrana, restrain him for me; there's something in it for you," Arthas immediately called for assistance; what pride mattered when his life was at stake? The black dragon princess raised an eyebrow, "A thousand gold coins."

"Deal!" Arthas agreed without hesitation, leaving the black dragon princess feeling that she had lowballed herself, but since the deal was made, she let it go, remembering it for next time!

Swish! A fireball the size of a millstone appeared out of thin air just as Teron Gorefiend was preparing to dodge.

A Holy Light hammer crashed down from above, utterly unavoidable, pinning him in place. Boom! The fireball hit Teron Gorefiend, exploding flames that engulfed nearby Orc soldiers, who continued to scream in agony as they were burned alive.

Seizing the opportunity! Before the flames died out, Arthas once again hurled the judgment hammer, condensed from Holy Light. His long sword landed heavily on Teron Gorefiend's neck, bang, bang, bang! Splash!

Dark blood flowed from the corpse, and a grotesque head fell to the ground. A stream of light quickly flew backward; it was Teron Gorefiend's soul, already severely damaged, filled with terror, unable to comprehend how swift the opponent's attack was!

He was still stuck in the era of the first Orc war, when battles consisted of probing attacks where soldiers alternated between offense and defense to exploit weaknesses before striking fiercely to eliminate the enemy. Arthas exploited control chains to connect attacks, coupled with weaknesses, and forcibly destroyed the body, significantly reducing the Death Knight's power.

Moreover, the Holy Light was indeed very effective against the undead, burning not just their bodies but also giving the impression of the soul being obliterated.

"Kill!" Arthas lifted his hand once more, and the Holy Light descended, restoring his life that had been scorched by flames. Swish! The long sword struck down one Death Knight after another, his eyes filled with madness, as if he had entered a whirlpool of slaughter.

Even the black dragon princess felt startled; this boy who dared to make a deal with her father was a bit too reckless! An arrow flew in from a distance, killing the Orc who was trying to ambush Arthas.

The ranger general Alleria, clad in green armor, arrived, her arrows never missing their mark, each one piercing through the Orcs' armor and into their brains, killing them in one shot!

"Thanks," Arthas said, then continued to pursue the Death Knights, appearing mad, yet fully alert. A fierce leader greatly boosts the morale of the soldiers below; if the officers are fierce, the troops will be fierce too!

"No need to mention it; thank you for your care in Lordaeron," Alleria genuinely appreciated it, as the supplies sent by Arthas had allowed them to fare much better.

The two no longer spoke and kept killing Orcs in perfect sync. The battle remained intensely stalemated; the Orcs' eyes were blood-red, and they fought ferociously, unwilling to stop unless killed. Even if they had only one breath of life left or a single leg, they would continue to fight. After a long fight, the main force of the Alliance had arrived, and the remaining Silver Hand forces launched a surprise attack on the front lines, further suppressing the Orcs' advance.

By evening, both sides retreated in mutual understanding. The Orcs entered the northern mountains, while the Alliance camped outside the nearby town.

"Ding, Death Knight slaying quest completed."

"Ding, specialization advancement reward received. Get the talent Holy Shield, increasing your block rate by 20%, and the ability to block spells. Damage blocked is reduced to one-third of that damage and rebounds 50% of it back to the caster."

"Ding, gained resurrection spell, able to resurrect creatures that died within the last 24 hours. One hour cooldown, consuming half of your mana."

"Oh no! Lirath, what, what happened to you! Speak! It can't be, it can't be! How could you possibly die here!" Alleria's anguished voice echoed in the camp; among the High Elf camp, there were more than ten corpses of fallen High Elf rangers, all wounded in battle without retreating, fighting valiantly to the end.

Arthas respected them; at the very least, they fought to the last like warriors. However, this was not the reason he extended a helping hand; to rise and gain loyal forces, he needed to be a little more ruthless.

Moreover, looking at Alleria's graceful figure, her slender waist had an astonishing strength, even capable of one shotting an Orc soldier! Such a wild and beautiful woman, it would be a lie if he wasn't attracted. For a long time, Arthas had restrained his desires, fearing that he might get lost in them and worried about being cuckolded later.

To avoid being cuckolded, he needed to possess great power, to both intimidate and satisfy women. His intentions toward Alleria had never ceased; he only maintained a budding friendship with her, without any further development. Right now, an excellent opportunity presented itself; although it would be a bit despicable, what did it matter to him?
