Cherreads

Chapter 10 - -Reaction

The spectators were looking at each type of round. The one that was the most looked at was of course the overall one. The commentator hyped it up to be an impossible round and a blood bath. It was for the fans of gore. Heads were getting crushed and punches were flying everywhere. There were thousands of death every second. Millions of spectators were looking at one participant in particular. That participant was close to death as he was in front of the hunting dog. The spectators were sure of his death as he almost got knocked out.

"The knife! The knife!", a smart spectator screamed. It was as of Dave listened as he managed to kill his chaser. Everyone screamed in the spectators stand.

"He did it!"

One in a million was what they were calling him. A logical and deserved name. The use of the body and the special metal was genius as it blocked the axe for a bit. A genius they all thought. They were all waiting for the second round that happened two days after. They started rooting for him. His underdog story reminded them of their own. Most of them were legends in their realm that died for a reason or another. While the living legends that watched this protagonist was watching to lose their boredom. One of the living beings even had enough strength to be given the opportunity to talk with the player as a sort of king in this role play. Most of the other type of rounds were basic and only killed weak people.

I woke up in the same dark space with notifications buzzing infront of me.

The window waited for my response. I chose strength with conviction. I promised myself that I would never be this close to death ever again. I think it was a needed promise to give me relief. I pushed away the memories of the murder I just did by wondering about my new strength and the consequences of leveling up.

"Status", I whispered.

I put my 2 stat points in agility touching my broken jaw over and over. The stars and circles appeared and I prepared myself for the teleportation.

I came back in the plaza. I felt brand new. My jaw was back in its place. The teleportation was also a healing spell. Good to know. I searched for Jim for some time and saw him talking to Anna on a bench. I walked to them and greeted them with a fake smile. Jim ran at me and hugged me. I was a bit shocked, but I put my hands around him too. I felt happy to see him alive. I knew he wouldn't die so easily, but you never know with idiots. We then took some time explaining our first round. The stamina test was a breeze compared to mine. They had to walk through a desert with nothing except their respective object and their will. When it was my turn, I told them that I had a similar experience with my test. It was only about lasting long with will. I got my way through their questions and they believed me.

They wouldn't be able to refute me anyways. The ones that could were long gone.

We went to Anna's store and watched the news. She inherited the store when her grandfather died. She had to juggle school and work with her father. He passed away last year. Our discussion gave enough time for all the tests to be known to the government. The strength test needed to chase someone doing an obstacle course and catching them with a metal ball attached to their arms. The easiest test apparently. I knew why, they killed people who had no chance of living. I may be the reason for the upgrade in difficulty. I killed a million people. For the stamina test, it was the one with the most death, they had to cross a desert with only their courage. The other two tests were normal and mildly difficult. The stamina test made over 200 million death.
