[Third POV – Kyrene]
The air inside the chamber shifted the moment Morveth finished speaking.
The runes carved across the floor dimmed, then pulsed once, deep and slow. Kyrene stood still at the center, hands relaxed, gaze steady on the towering figure before him.
"So," Kyrene uttered lightly, as if greeting someone at a gathering rather than a prison deep beneath a palace, "you're the one I felt that fully awakens."
Morveth's skull tilted, bone plates grinding softly against each other.
"You fully awaken me," the lich replied, its layered voice resonating through the chamber. "You and your interference."
Kyrene's lips curved faintly. "That sounds like a compliment."
Morveth did not respond with amusement. Instead, the stone platform beneath it shifted. A seam formed in the center of the raised floor, circular and precise. The platform lowered slowly, carrying the lich down as if it were descending into a private observatory.
As it sank, Morveth lifted one skeletal hand.
