Chapter 12 - MERCILESS KING DRAVEN

ORPHELLA'S P.O.V

"Holy s—!" Cameron shouted as Olivia formed a massive sphere of destruction—an endless swirling void of darkness.

"Duck!" Tasha screamed.

In slow motion, Elder Ember intercepted the attack—and Draven struck.

The needles pierced Olivia's body.

She fell instantly, lifeless.

Cole leapt forward and caught her.

"Father, don't dare touch her!" he growled.

Draven turned his attention to the Millers, totally ignoring his son's outburst.

"I will be taking the girl with me to the Wolf Kingdom. She's far too dangerous to be kept in the human realm."

"What the hell did you do to her?!" Cole growled, exploding in rage as he clutched her waist.

Draven's unbothered look only made Cole's anger surge. He walked forward with the intent to question his father, his courage shocking everyone—even Reiden slightly—but the next second, a needle pierced his vital point, and he dropped lifelessly to the ground.

Gasps filled the air, shocked by how cruel and merciless the king was, even to his own son.

"Take them back," Draven ordered coldly.

"Reiden, Davis—with me. Cameron, Eric—take Cole and the girl. Move out now."

No.

Hailey thought.

Cole went back to the kingdom—I'd never see him again. And that goblin would be with him. Never. Never!

"I won't let my Cole be taken away from me!"

"Your Highness," Hailey called, stepping in front of Draven.

Another wave of shocked gasps filled the air. Hailey summoned all her courage—for Cole, she'd do anything.

"I request to come along," she began with a respectful bow. "I mean—Olivia is unfamiliar with the ways of were society and the supernatural realm. I will be of assistance to her if I come along."

Draven could see through her real intentions but had no time to deal with it. His primary concern was Olivia.

He nodded. "You'll go with Cole and Cameron," he said, moving past her as a sly smile formed at the edge of her lips.

The night swallowed the highway as they sped toward the Wolf Mansion. Hailey's gaze kept drifting to Cole. Even unconscious, he held Olivia tightly—one arm wrapped firmly around her waist, his head buried in her hair, as if his body refused to let her go.

"Wait until I teach you a lesson," Hailey muttered bitterly.

Suddenly, the car swerved violently. Hailey slammed into the Audi's door with a sharp cry. Cameron tried not to laugh—but failed.

Before she could snap back, Hailey glanced out the window. A silver bullet tore past her face.

"What the hell?!" she screamed, slamming the window shut.

"Was that a bullet?!" Cameron shouted.

Davis's voice sliced through their pack link. We're under attack. Dark witches. Protect the prince at all costs. Do not get hit. The bullets are silver-laced with beast-plant venom—one shot means instant death.

"Eric!" Cameron yelled. "Step on it—now!"

The car surged forward, weaving through traffic at terrifying speed. Ahead, Draven's vehicle was being cornered. Behind them, black cars and roaring sports bikes closed in fast.

Gunfire erupted.

A super bike shot toward them.

"Watch out!" Cameron screamed.

Bang.

The windshield shattered. A bullet ripped through the glass and spun straight toward Olivia—then stopped, dropping harmlessly to the floor.
