The village spread out before them, small houses scattered about, children chasing chickens and the tang of woodsmoke. Curious faces peered from windows, lingering on Kyle.
The mayor's house was a little way out of the village, a two-story building with a small garden beside it.
Garrik knocked on the door.
The door swung open to reveal a man in his thirties with brown hair and a kind face.
"Oh, Garrick and Luna." The man smiled warmly. "Who's your friend?"
"Found him in the forest, Mayor Alden," Garrick replied. "He seems to have lost his memory."
"Lost his memory?" A warm voice floated from behind Alden.

Eleanor smiled gently while Alden laughed and said, "Anyone would do the same in our place."
