"Jamie, I'm leaving for school!" Jace yelled as he raced past Jamie's door, sprinting down the stairs.
He was already halfway down the stairs, backpack hanging from one shoulder and hoodie half-zipped, when he realized something felt off.
The house was silent in a way it that felt weird. Jamie was usually an grumpy person in the morning, he usually moved around in the house with so much loudness that could wake the neighbors three houses down. He always had fights with the kettles, bathroom door, and he'd have music playing faintly from his room. Even on days he didn't have early classes, there was some kind of presence.
But today felt empty which was really weird. Jace rolled his eyes slightly.
"He's probably still sulking," he muttered to himself.
Last night had ended badly, he remembered the look on Jamie's face before he walked out.
Jace had waited up longer than he wanted to admit and had fallen asleep on the couch eventually.
