The Battle Kingdom's grand hall, once a place of celebration for the tournament, now lay in ruins. Dust and debris floated in the air like mournful specters, the aftermath of Toki's assault still evident. Kenji's black flames had faded, leaving him exhausted, battered, but standing.
Ryo, Aiko, and Toya supported him as they walked through the wreckage. Each step reminded them of the chaos that had almost claimed their lives.
"Kenji… you… you really did it," Ryo muttered, still catching his breath. His eyes reflected a mix of awe and lingering disbelief.
Aiko remained calm but her voice betrayed subtle relief. "I knew you could do it… but the force he wielded… it's unlike anything we've faced before."
Toya chuckled weakly, still helping Kenji balance. "Man… we all almost died back there. You didn't just fight him… you dominated him."
Kenji nodded, silently acknowledging his team. His eyes fell on Yumi, who had approached cautiously, her expression a mixture of concern and admiration. She had witnessed everything—the raw power, the struggle, the final decisive blow.
"You… you were amazing," Yumi said softly, voice trembling. Her hands clenched slightly. "I… I didn't think anyone could take him on alone."
Kenji gave a faint smile but said nothing. He didn't need words; his team and Yumi already understood.
Meanwhile, word of Kenji's victory had already reached the king and the Battler Organisation. King Itsuki Imoja, Yumi's father, observed from the royal balcony with a mix of pride and curiosity. He had sent the invitation to Kenji not just to witness the tournament but to gauge the strength of this young hero. And now, he knew.
Chairman Daku of the Battler Organisation, now aware of Kenji's potential, prepared to recognize him officially. His assistant, Kei, scribbled notes quickly, ensuring every detail of Kenji's performance would be documented.
The team was called to the throne room. Guards cleared the debris as they entered, and the king rose to greet them.
"Kenji," King Itsuki's voice was deep but controlled. "Your actions today have proven your worth. Not only to the Kingdom but to the Battler world itself. You have faced the King of Death… and survived. That is no small feat."
Kenji bowed slightly, still exhausted but composed. "Thank you, Your Majesty. I did what was necessary."
Ryo, Aiko, and Toya were acknowledged as well, their bravery noted. Though Kenji had fought alone, the king recognized the teamwork and effort behind their support.
The king then held up a hand, signaling silence. "By the authority vested in me, and upon recommendation from the Battler Organisation, Kenji… I officially grant you the iv Rank 8, and recognize your power at the equivalent of V Rank. You are now a hero of the Kingdom of Battlers."
A murmur of awe and respect spread throughout the room. Kenji's team cheered quietly, proud of their leader. Yumi's eyes glistened with tears, the pride and affection she felt impossible to conceal any longer.
Kenji's gaze met hers briefly, and for the first time, he allowed himself a faint acknowledgment of her feelings—though he did not speak. Yumi understood.
The king concluded, "Your journey does not end here. Many threats remain, both known and unknown. Prepare yourselves, for the Kingdom relies on heroes like you."
The announcement marked the end of the Eviler threat—for now—but the world had witnessed the rise of a new force. Kenji and his team were no longer just fighters; they were legends in the making.
