Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: Squabble

Ratella's next match was to be decided in the next couple of minutes; he sat patiently awaiting the announcer's call to action. Olivia's figure eventually appeared from the stairs, walking towards him and sitting directly next to him, inviting a couple of nosy bystanders to fill the once-barren area of seats.

"Quite the celebrity with Kathoros now."

"Shut up. I didn't think using a sliver of my power would gather this much attention; it's extremely annoying being followed at every corner."

"It's because you don't have any wings. If you had at least four, you wouldn't be pestered so much. I don't get why no one likes me, though. They all look at me with dread. I didn't even use any of my power to kill my opponent. I don't get it."

"Huh? Are you that dense? You annihilated that man's organs with intent alone; of course, everyone watching is terrified of you. That sliver of murderous intent you let slip most likely turned their blood into ice for a split second. Do you know the terror of such a feeling, even just for a moment?"

"No. But they are just weak. It's not my fault they can't handle my murderous intent. I have to vent it every once in a while or else I'll turn into a mindless forsaken."

"I know that! Have you forgotten who I am? You should dispel your bloodlust away from prying eyes in an area removed from civilization. Not in a crowd of thousands, are you that stupid?"

"I don't see the problem. It's not like you have any room to talk. You killed that terror-stricken woman by cleaving her head off. A fate much worse than Alexander's. Her family was probably watching. You should apologize."

"Oh!? That man's organs and blood vessels collapsed in on themselves; he died in agony with his organs exiting from every hole in his body. And to think his family was probably in the crowd, you should apologize!"

"Incorrect. He died feeling no pain at all. His body was too focused on the malice emanating from my body to worry about giving pain receptors any thought. At least mine died with his exterior intact; you cleaved that pretty woman's head off. What would her family think of you now that you've committed such a barbaric act to their precious daughter?"

"First, she wasn't even pretty; she could have passed for a river troll, not an angel. Second, she also died feeling no pain. Third, I don't care what some random angels think about me!"

"Incorrect. I believe she felt some pain, whether that be heartache or mental pain, after the announcer revealed your Lady Death identity."

"Shut up!" barked Olivia, throwing a single jab directly at his face fast enough to evade the detection of any of the bystanders, scooting forward in their seats, trying to get in earshot of their heated argument.

Ratella threw his arms up in his defense, rooting himself to the ground with his wings as he did so, making sure he didn't go flying. The force of the punch was earth-shattering, colliding with his raised arms, and the resulting shockwave cracked the seating area, splitting the two's seats.

He was mostly unharmed by the blow, leaving a throbbing pain around the wound, which quickly disappeared; his healing factor was greatly aided by the high concentration of divinity flowing through his veins.

Their bickering continued even with the divide in the ground.

Arguing about the most pointless things that happened in their fights only managed to infuriate Olivia more by his way of correcting her, even if she was right.

By the time he got called up for his next fight, four punches had been directed at Ratella, and a portion of the roof had already collapsed in on itself. The staggering power behind each of her punches left the once pristine viewing area in ruin.

"Will Ratella Evergarden and Julian Croft please come to the arena. Due to a massive amount of forfeits, this match will be the last of the day for the men, making it the final to decide the champion of this Divine tournament!"

"Croft? A brother or father of that weakling I killed? This might be fun."

"Don't use your intent again, you might harm Memaru if Seraphina didn't take your advice."

"That was just a test of the limits to killing with intent alone. I'm not going to use it again; I'll fight properly this time."

"Bye-bye."

Ratella flew into the arena, taking his earlier position. The muffled mumbles of the audience surrounded him. All are trying to predict the outcome of the battle.
