Murmurs could be heard from the laboratory, a soft voice and a more stern one. Liliana and Mammon were currently experimenting with the principle of nature, synthesizing new vials of everlasting life. An incorrect batch had exploded in their faces, leaving them with black tar plastered on their faces and a giant scorn mark painted on the roof.
Ratella eventually reached the laboratory, hearing the muffled sounds of Liliana and Mammon through the walls. He entered the room, sat down on a stray chair, and drew the gaze of the two scientists. One being greatly inexperienced, the ash and soot plastered on her face and hair being a dead giveaway.
"Wow, I've never seen you so injured before. That Orion really is a powerhouse, then," blurted out Liliana, inspecting his damaged wings with her eyes. Fantiscated written over her face at the unexpected outcome of their battle.
"I'll beat him eventually. He is the most powerful opponent I've faced. He can move past my perceptive abilities easily, and I can sense he's taking it easy on me despite his words saying otherwise."
"Orion is my first creation and far more powerful than I. You shouldn't expect to beat him easily. In support of our new friendship, I'll give you one hint and one warning," declared Mammon, drawing his full attention to Ratella, his face growing stern.
"Hint: if you can not perceive his attacks, then you must accelerate and train your perception skills and overall speed. Warning: if you push Orion far enough, he'll go berserk, and his power will increase drastically. You must stop him yourself if he gets that way; he won't be able to stop and will recognise everything apart from me as a threat. It was a safety measure I placed to stop his capture."
"I appreciate your hint and warning. The violet and azure energy growing more violent is a sign of the berserk state, yes?"
"You've already pushed him that far? You must be powerful to land a few hits in the first fight. I expect you to take at least a month to push him that far. I guess the six wings aren't for nothing."
"Yeah, I doubt I would have survived if he had gone berserk. I'll be careful not push him until I'm ready to fight at his full strength. What are you doing anyway?"
"We are making new vials of everlasting life since you wasted them all on a single plant. You know you should really read his books before experimenting, mister!" declared Liliana, her playful attitude coming out in full despite the hypocrisy in her declaration.
"You literally did the same thing as me with that vial of acidic energy! You started this, so I don't accept your little reprimand, missy!" spat back Ratella, annoyed by her high and mighty attitude. She was in no position to play such a role, covered in soot, and the gaping hole in the floor was all her fault.
"I thought the hole was his fault, not ours? Liliana, did you lie to make yourself look better?" asked Mammon, blatant confusion written all over his face, the two contradicting statements doing nothing good in determining whose in the wrong.
He was only smart in the art of science and not in the art of people and arguments. His confusion caused Ratella's eyebrow to twitch; the remaining energy from his fight was leeched away by Liliana's behavior.
"I'm going to bed. Try not to explode anything else."
Mammon and Liliana soon returned to their experiments and research in the absence of Ratella, who had returned to the small lounge, nestling himself within his wings and lying on a couch. Directing the divinity in his body to his wings to aid their swift recovery. His exhaustion hit his mind at full force after settling into his wings, sending him into a deep slumber.
