Chapter 14 - chapter 13

"Crimson.." this time it spoke more clearly, eyes focused on Kai. Then it charged.

Louis blocked its path, saving Kai from its direct attack. Okrum lunged, trying to bite Louis's forearm but before it could do it, Remus stabbed its side with a dagger.

He pulled the dagger back to strike again but saw it being bent and cracked.

Okrum's skin was elastic in a way that it felt you are stabbing and dagger or sword penetrate the skin and flesh but in reality it never did.

Remus realized it late. Before he could realize it, tail threw him away, and his back hit the big boulder nearby. He sat up huffing and gasping for air, but instead he coughed blood.

Valarie rushed to his side giving him support. Kai summoned his aura sword and ran towards the Okrum but was stopped by Louis while Henry and william stood in front to protect Kai.

Jerry made the vines appeared growing out of ground and holding the creature on place to give others a chance for a group attack.

But as the vines coiled around its feet, creature tried to snap them with brute force.

In the next second, Alistair jumped in air and everyone's eyes including Okrum watched him. The sky turned more grey and clouds collected at one place just above them. It looked majestic as they watched it all happen in the Alistair's background.

His eyes turned pale blue, his palm facing sky.

Waiting.

And then the thunder strike on his palm from clouds. His hand had some sparks as the bolt vanished from the clouds. He channeled it forward, hurling it towards Okrum. The lightning intensified, blindingly bright, forcing everyone shield their eyes.

It happened too fast to fully comprehend

Once the bright light faded, one by one they opened eyes only to see Okrum standing there.

Unharmed.

It struke again and again, snapping the remaining vines and freeing himself by force, eyes still locked onto Kai.

"Crim...son...Crimson" It spoke, lunging toward him.

Kai raised his sword to block the attack but the force was overwhelming. He got pushed back. Okrum took one step to push him more and Kai's back connected to a tree.

It stepped forward lowering its head to bite Kai's face. He felt it breathing heaving, jaw opened.

Then something happened—Tris lifted his hand.

Every swords and daggers nearby lifted up and started floating in air before launching together in a single, big attack.

The blades couldn't pierce Okrum's skin— but one small dagger struck its eye and it screamed.

Blood seeped out from eye as its hand clawed its face and wound, still screaming. For a split second, the same thought cross all of their minds—to attack together again.

They didn't get the chance.

Before they could follow the thought, Okrum screamed again, this time it was enough to rupture their ear drums. Valerie's ears began to bleed, same with Jerry's and then William's.

They covered their ears and dropped to their knees, waiting for it to stop.

After a few seconds of agony, it finally stopped. Its eyes or what remained of it— red with pain and rage. Its face twisted in something cruel.

Then it snapped.

William who was near Okrum on his knees covering ears, became the first target.

It lunged on William. Their breaths hitched seeing Will lifted effortlessly by it, above its head and then in air.

"THIS BASTARD GONNA BREAK WILL'S BACK" Remus yelled, clutching his chest.

They all rushed forward toward Okrum to stop it but in a second it just brought Will back down with force close to its knees to break his bones.

They watched in horror, scared to lose one of their own.

Henry's eyes fixed on Will's face as his expression filled with terror as if waiting for all of it to be over.

Whoosh.

An arrow flew and hit the Okrum's head.

It staggered throwing Will aside as it stepped back. William hit the ground but not hard enough to be fatally injured.

They all turned to the archer and surprise was a small word to express the view.

Valarie stood there, holding the massive majestic golden bow, her ears still bleeding but her eyes —

They were pitched black. Even the sclera also turned it deep black color. They held the aura of void itself, as if they could swallow everything whole.

She drew the bowstring back and an golden arrow appeared shimmering with energy.

She released the arrow again. This time targeting its unwounded eye. The shot was sharp and clear hitting the target, pushing Okrum back.

It screamed in pain as it's both eyes were now nothing but useless. It couldn't open them, blood seeping out from eyes and head.

It staggered stepping back, then leapt into trees, using the leaves and branches to hide.

And then it was gone.

Kai's gaze darted from tree to tree, his senses picking up the little sounds.

but no sign of it. Not even a trace.

He inhaled deeply and checked on others. They were injured and defeated. Even with all the efforts, it ran away alive. Giving it a chance to attack again.

He noticed everyone's injuries and their weapons fallen on ground.

His gaze turned to Valarie who was now swaying and looked unfocused. He rushed to her side and held her.

Her eyes were normal now but skin looked pale and washed out. "It alright now." He assured her.

The bow vanished leaving golden shimmers behind as her knees buckled. He helped her sitting down and sat behind her to give support.

He was glad that they all were alive and no one was fatally injured.
