Chapter 302 - Chapter 301: Is Fumino Nase The Only One Who Can Change Suzuka's Fate?

"Hmm... she seems perfectly healthy! Her bones show no signs of damage, and there isn't any redness or swelling on her legs either."

When the group arrived at Tracen Academy's 'infirmary,' which was more like a private hospital, the doctor, under the worried gazes of everyone, declared Silence Suzuka completely healthy.

Taking off his glasses, the doctor showed a kind expression as he spoke to Okino and Wada.

"Don't worry, there aren't any problems with your Uma Musume. You're doing a great job as her Trainer."

"...Could you check again? We hope to avoid all potential risks."

Standing out among everyone's relief, Wada was still tense, asking with worry in his voice.

"Trainer Wada, as a Trainer yourself, you probably understand this better than us doctors, but there are no absolutes when it comes to situations like these."

Shaking his head, the doctor wiped his glasses and put them back on.

"Though I don't want to jinx it, even now, despite how infinitesimally small the chances are of both of us suddenly suffering something like a heart attack, there is still a chance for freak accidents like this to occur."

"Moreover, active Uma Musume undergo vigorous activities every single day— running at speeds far exceeding safe levels, which becomes even more apparent during high intensity races— it can be said that every race is a test of an Uma Musume's luck."

"No matter how many checks are done before a race, it could become an entirely different story on the track."

"As doctors and Trainers, all we can do is minimize this possibility and diminish the impacts if a tragedy does occur. This is the limit of our capabilities."

"Silence Suzuka over here managed to pass every check with flying colours. Logically speaking, she should not be facing any injuries soon and hopefully in the future too."

"If you want some suggestions to reduce the risks to the absolute minimum, you could change her running style to a gentler one, reduce the intensity of her training, make her wear a more cushioned pair of running shoes..."

As a doctor hired at an Uma Musume Academy, although he was not an Uma Musume, nor was he ever a Trainer, he was obviously incredibly knowledgeable when it came to the health of Uma Musume.

But as the doctor continued giving suggestions, Silence Suzuka, who had stood up, suddenly interrupted him.

"No... it's not necessary. My Trainer has already done perfect adjustments for all of those things... Thank you for your concern, doctor."

"...Well, since nothing is wrong, I'm relieved."

Okino, hearing the doctor's report and seeing nothing abnormal with Silence Suzuka breathed a sigh of relief.

"So, can you rest assured now, Wada-kun? Though this was a bit random, I still appreciate your kindness in caring for the girls on my team."

"...Yes, yes I can..."

While Wada seemed to have something to say, in the end, with the evidence stacked against him, he would just look like a crazy paranoid if he continued pushing.

Finally choosing to give up for now, Wada swallowed his initial warnings.

"I'm sorry for causing you trouble and wasting your time."

"It's nothing~ If you really want to apologize, just buy me drinks tonight!!"

Also choosing not to make things too hard on Wada, Okino made a joke to resolve this incident between them.

"Alright, since Suzuka is fine, everyone, let's go back to training!!"

"Oh!!!" X3

Quickly at Okino's call, Special Week, Daiwa Scarlet, and Vodka responded with a hearty shout before jogging toward the training grounds with Silence Suzuka in tow.

But, just as they were about to leave, Special Week didn't forget to bow and thank Wada.

"Trainer Wada, thanks for caring about Suzuka!! Next time we meet, I'll definitely bring you some of my snacks!!"

With that, Special Week quickly left to catch up with the rest of her team; Tanino Gimlet also showed a smile at Wada, displaying an expression that was either annoyance or mocking before being the last to leave.

Facing all of this, Wada merely remained silent, walking out quietly.

Outside, T.M. Opera O and Meisho Doto, who had been informed by Fumino Nase, were already waiting by the door.

"Ryuji, you can honestly tell us; is there something wrong with Silence Suzuka? Why are you suddenly so worried about her getting a fracture?"

T.M. Opera O's trust in Wada, combined with her fragmented memories of "T.M. Opera O," made her unconditionally trust his judgment.

Although it seemed a bit far fetched, since Wada was sincerely worried about Silence Suzuka, then T.M. Opera O would trust that she was truly in danger.

"Um... Trainer, though we trust you, you can understand why it would be hard for everyone else to believe you, right?"

Meisho Doto, on the side, nervously tried to calm and reason with Wada.

"Yes... I suppose so."

Reflecting on his actions, Wada could only sigh deeply.

He truly had been too impulsive, blurting out the conclusion to Okino and his team without any basis.

But, even if he had managed to come up with several reasonable cover up stories and false truths now that reason had returned to his mind, Wada severely doubted that it could have overturned an official medical report.

Moreover... the timing he chose was really not good; their team had only recently gained a reputation for hoarding GI and GII races.

In this situation, it was natural for Okino to be doubtful; Silence Suzuka withdrawing would directly benefit Team Miracle's chances of winning the Tenno Sho (Autumn).

Luckily, in front of T.M. Opera O and Meisho Doto, Wada didn't need to hide anything at all.

Meisho Doto already knew his transmigration situation through "Meisho Doto," and T.M. Opera O also guessed the situation almost perfectly through her fusion with "T.M. Opera O."

Therefore, Wada explained everything about the Silent Sunday incident and how it was very likely that Silence Suzuka was going to fracture her leg during the Tenno Sho (Autumn).

"...Then what should we do, Trainer? If this continues, won't Suzuka be hurt at the Tenno Sho?"

"There's no need to rush; we still have time... I hope."

Trying his best to keep his cool, even though he and T.M. Opera O would definitely not be in Japan during that period, with Ikezoe and Imanami there, Wada knew he shouldn't be too worried.

Still, it was best to have as many options as possible.

Although Silence Suzuka seemed gentle, she was actually quite the egoistic person. Once she made up her mind about something, she would stick to it stubbornly like super glue.

The best case scenario was to persuade Okino into making Silence Suzuka give up... But the chances of convincing Okino were nigh nil; he didn't have future sight, nor had lived through a future parallel world after all.

The next best option was to convince Silence Suzuka through people close to her, like Special Week.

However, though Special Week might be gullible enough to trust them, Silence Suzuka might not necessarily listen to her, and might, on the contrary, even produce the opposite intended effect.

"Hmm?"

Then, just as he was brainstorming ideas, Wada suddenly thought of someone and couldn't help but turn toward his two Uma Musume.

"By the way, where's Nase? Did she not come with you?"

"Oh, Trainer Nase said she had a headache... she's resting in the infirmary now."

Meisho Doto spoke up, pointing toward a certain direction as she continued.

"Actually, the reason we knew you were here was because we happened to catch Trainer when we were bringing Trainer Nase to the infirmary."

"A headache? So suddenly?"

Meisho Doto's words caused creases to form on Wada's forehead.

Fumino Nase seemed perfectly fine when he left; why did she suddenly have a headache?

With Meisho Doto and T.M. Opera O as precedent, Wada unconsciously started to make associations as soon as he heard the symptom 'headache.'

And when Wada thought of the relationship between Silence Suzuka and the person from his world Fumino Nase reflected... he didn't know if he should do what he was about to do...

'—Puff... No choice. This concerns the future of a child with a bright future. There's no way I'm going to let some vain pride and embarrassment stop me.'

"I'm going to see Nase... Perhaps she'll know what to do to save Silence Suzuka."

At this moment, a potential pair equal to Maruzensky/Ikezoe as born! (Suzuka/Nase is prob my least fav duo in how the og author handled it, surpassing even my dislike for Maruzensky/Ikezoe)
