Chapter 71 - Chapter 70: Who Did It

### Chapter 70: Who Did It

"Original... original appearance? No... no no... it can't be..."

Lucy realized an extremely terrifying possibility. The hairs on her body stood on end, and sweat seeped out uncontrollably.

Riku nodded: "Just like you guessed, they were originally demons."

"?!!"

Natsu, Gray, and Happy were all scared silly.

Demons? Had they been staying in a village of demons all along?

"Is... is this true?"

Natsu asked a nearby villager.

"Uh... yeah!"

The demon seemed a bit confused too.

"They could transform into humans. Plus, the Moon Drip should have caused memory impairments in demons, making them mistake their transformed human forms for their original appearance."

"Lyon gathered Moon Drip every night, breaking the transformation disguise, which is why they reverted to demon forms under the purple moon's illumination. They thought it was a curse."

Riku explained to the group.

"Riku, when did you discover they were demons themselves?"

Lucy was very puzzled about this. Riku was an S-Class Mage, but they all received the same information. She hadn't noticed anything at all.

"When? Probably right when we arrived on this island."

"?!!"

"As soon as we landed, I activated my Mind Network for perception to find you guys. While perceiving, I also perceived these villagers. Demon electromagnetic waves are slightly different from humans. At first, I also thought it was due to the curse, but Lyon's lack of change proved it wasn't a problem in that aspect. Then there's only one answer: they themselves were the problem."

Riku spoke half-truths. His Mind Network perception indeed sensed that demons were slightly different from humans, but he knew they were demons because he remembered this plot segment.

Happy asked: "What about the moon? How did you know there were crystals in the sky?"

"Guessed it!"

"Guessed it?!"

"Yeah! Guessed it. It shouldn't be hard to guess, right? Normally, one wouldn't suspect a problem with the moon, so the problem must lie in the sky above this island. So last night, I released an electromagnetic wave towards the sky, and that electromagnetic wave gave me feedback of an obstacle."

Lucy suddenly realized what Riku said last night: "So that's what Riku meant by 'more or less' at that time. This was the reason."

Thinking carefully, last night when Riku said to destroy the moon, she thought it was a joke. In fact, Riku had already given the method to solve this curse.

"So amazing!"

Only now did Lucy feel the huge gap between ordinary mages and S-Class Mages, not just in strength but also in other aspects.

"Damn it! If I had known earlier, I would have let Happy fly me up there! That way, I could have completed an S-Class mission!"

Natsu was very regretful now. If he had known earlier, he would have let Happy fly him towards the sky regardless of everything last night. He could have completed the S-Class mission, and the Master would have recognized him then.

Riku patted Natsu's shoulder: "Can't be helped. I gave you a chance. If you can't even complete such a simple S-Class mission, you want to go to the second floor? Train more!"

Suddenly! A voice rang out.

"Amazing! Mage Lords, thank you so much."

Everyone looked in the direction of the voice and saw a male demon walking over. Lucy and Natsu immediately recognized this person as the boatman uncle who poled the boat for them, and also the village chief's son who was supposedly killed by the villagers.

"Bo... Bobo..."

The demon village chief trembled with excitement seeing his son.

"...Didn't you die?"

"Can a sword through the chest kill a demon? Everyone thought they were humans, which was too scary, so I recovered my memory alone and left the island."

With everyone's memories restored and the supposedly dead village chief's son alive, the village soon started a celebration party.

Although the demon appearances were somewhat terrifying, after looking at them for a long time, they felt somewhat accustomed. Moreover, the group could also feel that apart from their scary appearance, these demons were essentially not much different from humans. They all relaxed and joined in.

Early the next morning, the group set off to return to the guild.

"Riku, 7 million! Share a little with me!"

Happy licked his face and leaned in with a fawning look.

"No sharing! Sneaking out to do a mission and you want a share of the money? No way! Besides, didn't I give you a key?"

The mission reward was a total of 7 million Jewels plus a Golden Key. Lucy was a Celestial Spirit Mage, so the Golden Key naturally went to Lucy.

As for the money, Riku shared 1 million with Gray and kept the rest. He wasn't stingy, but there was no reason to share money with these idiots who sneaked out to do an S-Class mission.

Gray was excited but also felt somewhat undeserving. After all, he didn't help much in the mission and lost the fight.

Of course, undeserving or not, he should accept what he should accept. 1 million wasn't a small amount; it was enough for him to work diligently for a month. Following the normal mission rhythm, it would take two months to earn 1 million Jewels.

Happy said: "Sell the key, then share the money with me."

Lucy was startled: "What are you saying, thief cat!! Give it back to me. There are only twelve Golden Zodiac Keys in this world, extremely precious."

"You mean that cow and maid?"

Natsu showed a contemptuous expression. He had seen the Celestial Spirits Lucy summoned; their personalities were weirder than the next, and they couldn't take a beating at all.

Lucy gritted her teeth, looking unwilling to accept it: "If I train properly again, my Celestial Spirits will definitely be stronger than you!!"

When the group arrived in front of the guild, they were all shocked by the scene before them. The Fairy Tail guild was now dilapidated. The Fairy Tail plaque was smashed, and iron pillars pierced through the guild.

"My guild... this is too much!"

Lucy covered her mouth, somewhat unable to bear looking.

BOOM!!!

Under anger, electric arcs burst from Riku's body, and his eyes were filled with thick killing intent.

"Who did this?"
