Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

After putting on my shoes, I stood up and tapped the floor as I headed out the door.

"I'll be going now!" I said in a slightly raised voice.

"Take care on your way," my mom responded.

While walking out of the house, I greeted the dog next door and crouched to scratch his head. Damn, his face is so huggable! Can I kidnap you and be my cuddle buddy?

"I'll be going now, Mochi." I gave him one last tap on the head as he responded with a cute bark.

After an uneventful walk to school, I arrived at the front gate and saw a familiar face standing there.

"Good morning, Oshima-sensei," I greeted my PE teacher.

"Mhm. Good morning," he replied.

Entering the school building, I went upstairs and entered my classroom, greeting some classmates who had arrived before me.

Putting my bag on my seat at the back, I sat down and took out my notebook to jot down some ideas for my plot.

"Writing again?"

"Yeah."

I looked at the girl sitting beside me who had spoken up; she just gave a small peace sign while holding a PSP in her other hand.

"A wonderful bad morning to you, Kawashima-san."

"May you have a wonderful bad morning too, Kagami-kun~"

Kawashima Chiyo, my current seatmate and also a classmate of mine since elementary school.

She had long black hair, fringe bangs, light blue eyes, and the definition of a pretty face.

An open type of person that is literally not afraid to talk about what she likes.

"Anyway, have you played the game I lent you?" Kawashima-san asked, her eyes on her console.

"Yeah."

"So how was it?"

"It slaps every wrong way possible."

"Right? I told you it's the best thing ever, even Yumi laughed her ass out when we were playing it."

I had already forgotten the title, but basically the game has an Austrian dictator who is reincarnated in Africa and decided to take over the whole world again after his first attempt failed.

The animation was janky, the NPC interactions were funny, the voice acting was so laughably bad it's good, the dialogue was questionable, and the story was hilariously over the top. I could list more reasons why this game sucks(is great) as a game.

But as entertainment? Even good games couldn't come close to how much I enjoyed this kusoge.

"I only bought it because the reviews were mostly negative," Kawashima said. "Best purchase of my life."

"Boy, you didn't say how absurdly racist the plot of this is," I said.

"I thought you were going to hate it, to be honest." Kawashima said in a amused manner

"Why is that?" I curiously tilted my head.

"Well, you and Ayase-san are writers, so I thought you would badmouth it" she shrugged.

I flinched a little when she mentioned Aisa.

"Oya? Should I not have mentioned your girlfriend?" Kawashima-san grinned while wiggling her eyebrows.

"First of all, just because I am a writer does not mean I do not enjoy bad stories," I said, crossing my arms. "And second, Aisa is not my girlfriend."

"Oh, sorry — what I was about to say was actually 'wife'~" Kawashima continued her teasing.

"I already told you she is just a close friend," I said, forming a fist in annoyance.

As I chatted with her for a while, the school bell rang and our homeroom teacher entered the class.

Our class representative, Harada-san, a short-haired blonde wearing glasses, stood up from her seat at the front.

"Stand," she said.

Everyone followed suit and rose from their respective seats.

"Bow."

At her command, we bowed in unison and gave our morning greeting.

After our teacher gestured for us to sit, we immediately returned to our seats.

===============

It's now lunchtime, and I'm writing down the surge of ideas that entered my mind after that math class we had earlier.

"You're really fired up right now, Toshiki," someone whistled beside me, leaning down slightly to see what I was writing.

"Can't be helped; I gotta write this while it's still fresh," I continued, tapping my head with a finger. "Also, why were you late to class earlier, Keiji?"

Sekiguchi Keiji is a transferee from another city and someone I consider a fellow compadre, because our tastes and hobbies are nearly identical.

This guy also cooks the best food you could ask for.

"I just had an upset stomach earlier, nothing special," Keiji said while letting out a small sigh.

"I also had to cook for the two rascals, cause my aunt and uncle will be gone for three days," Keiji added.

"So they won't be open for this week?" I said in a disappointed tone.

"Yup," Keiji replied.

The diner Keiji's uncle owns is a favorite hangout spot of mine ever since I tasted the food there.

It's sad that I won't be able to relax there and chat with the usual regulars who go there during the afternoon, but it is what it is.

On the sidenote, is being a good cook carried by genetics? Because just like Keiji, his uncle is a pure kitchen demon when it comes to cooking.

"Back on topic, you're finally able to write something new?" Keiji asked with a curious tone.

"At this rate? Yeah, I might," I replied.

Time passed by fast after the end of lunch break, and it was now the end of class. With Keiji going first to take care of his twin siblings, I also headed out of the classroom but saw Kawashima-san chatting with the class rep on the way.

"You know, Yumi~, backtracking on that game sucked—oh, Kagami-kun," Kawashima-san paused her chat with Harada-san when she noticed me approaching.

"I'll just return the game tomorrow," I said to her.

"Don't mind, you can even just return it next month," Kawashima replied.

"You're not going home with Sekiguchi-kun?" joining the conversation, Harada-san asked.

"Nope," I answered while looking at our class rep.

I just told her that Keiji has errands to do now that he's in charge of taking care of the house and his brothers for a few days with his guardians out.

It sucks not having our usual hangout this afternoon. I might as well go home and write.

After having some small talk with the two girls, we bid farewell, and I walked out of the school gate.

While walking, I suddenly felt a slight sharp feeling in my head.

"Not again," I groaned in annoyance.

It was three days ago when I started having these random headaches one Saturday afternoon, and they continued into Sunday at the same time. Now it's still ongoing.

Maybe I should really go to a doctor now, because I honestly don't know the cause of my body acting weird these past three weeks.
