Jason was completely desperate now.
The razor-sharp Kagune on his right arm stabbed straight toward Fushimi Kyo, completely abandoning any attempt to dodge the blade thrusting toward him.
"Heh, you've got guts," Kyo praised inwardly.
Suddenly, his brow furrowed.
The charging momentum stopped abruptly.
At the same time, his body bent with an almost unnatural flexibility, retreating more than ten meters in an instant.
"Puff puff puff puff!"
Where Kyo had just been standing, countless crystallized Kagune rained down from above, shredding the area into something resembling a sieve.
Kyo looked up.
A Ukaku ghoul descended from the sky, slamming down between him and Jason with a heavy bang.
The newcomer wore a black hooded sweatshirt, her face concealed behind a rabbit mask.
Most striking of all was her Kagune
A rare Ukaku, and only a single wing.
"Ukaku… single-wing?"
"Touka Kirishima, huh?"
Kyo instantly saw through her identity.
In the original manga, after Touka's father, Arata Kirishima, was killed, neighbors discovered the ghoul identities of Touka and her younger brother Ayato, summoning the CCG.
To protect her brother, Touka lost one undeveloped Ukaku Kakuhou, leaving her permanently with only one wing.
On top of that, her refusal to eat human flesh and frequent consumption of human food caused severe malnutrition, preventing the damaged Kakuhou from ever regenerating.
The single-wing Ukaku had become her most recognizable mark.
Why is she here?
As far as I know, she has no connection to Jason. Why stop me?
Even with full knowledge of the original plot, Kyo was genuinely confused by this unexpected deviation.
Still, since Touka clearly didn't want her identity exposed, Kyo had no intention of calling her out.
Doing so would only complicate things further in the future.
"Hey," Kyo spoke up calmly.
"Who are you?"
"We don't seem to have any personal grudge, do we?"
"We don't," Touka replied, deliberately altering her voice.
"But you're slaughtering my kind indiscriminately so I can't let you go."
"If that's the case, then you want to kill me?"
Kyo tilted his head slightly.
"But there's something I don't understand."
"Don't ghouls devour each other all the time too? Why don't you interfere then?"
"And the ones I've killed every single one of them slaughtered humans like animals."
"Even so, you still want to stand against me?"
Kyo spoke more than he normally would.
Because he remembered
How Touka had worried about him during the so-called "date" with Rize.
How she secretly followed them to make sure he was safe.
How she even called him late at night just to confirm he was still alive.
All of that had left a deep impression on him.
If this were anyone else interfering with his "hunt," he would have eliminated them without hesitation.
Hearing Kyo's words, Touka fell silent.
Yes ghouls hunt humans, which is why humanity formed the CCG.
Her parents died at the hands of investigators. She hates them.
Now she claims to protect her own kind and tries to kill Kyo does she have justification? Yes.
But both the shop manager and she herself have always hoped for peaceful coexistence.
They tried to integrate into human society some even refusing to hunt humans entirely.
Yet neither the CCG nor the radical ghouls can truly understand one another.
One side fights to protect humanity.
The other kills to survive.

Jason seized the opportunity.
He sprinted forward and leapt straight off the building.
If he didn't escape now, he would die here.
That demon wouldn't stop.
"Trying to run?!"
Seeing his target about to escape, Kyo flashed forward in pursuit, leaving a trail of afterimages behind him.

A rain of Kagune descended once more, forcing him to evade again.
"I have no interest in you," Kyo said coldly.
"Don't interfere."
His irritation was obvious now.
Touka didn't know exactly what Kyo was but his danger was undeniable.
He was practically a natural predator of ghouls.
And after witnessing his battles with Rize and Jason, Touka realized something terrifying
Kyo's rate of growth was monstrous.
If devouring Kakuhou truly allowed limitless evolution…
The thought alone made cold sweat break out across her body.
He's too dangerous.
He must be eliminated before he becomes unstoppable.
That thought refused to leave her mind.
"Your existence is a disaster for ghouls," Touka said coldly.
"So I will kill you."
"You "
Kyo was genuinely speechless for a moment.
Then it clicked.
So that's why she kept a sour face when we went with Yoriko to the clinic.
She must have met Rize.
She knows I devoured Rize's Kakuhou.
She was probably already deciding whether to kill me back then.
Kyo exhaled slowly.
Then his voice dropped to ice-cold calm.
"You're looking for death. Do you understand that?"
He rolled his shoulders.
Killing intent surged outward, locking onto Touka like a blade.
He had made up his mind
It was time to teach her a very real lesson.
