Chapter 18 - Chapter: 18

Hey guys,

From this chapter onwards, the best part of this fanfic begins, and it's the main reason I started writing it. That's why, instead of posting every day, I'll be posting every two days to bring you better quality chapters that you can truly enjoy. Also, trust in my vision. Although it might sound different, I think it's plausible that something like this could happen in Naruto, and besides, that's what fanfiction is for—to create whatever I want in the story. Enjoy the chapter!

200 Powerstones extra chapter.

The extreme heat from Pakura's sphere not only illuminated the cave but transformed the environment into a suffocating oven. The iron scorpions, which had previously seemed like unstoppable tanks, began emitting a screeching sound—a metallic wail—as their bodies simply melted.

Daigo seized the opportunity. Seeing that Pakura's heat had weakened the molecular structure of the scorpions' iron, he charged forward.

Using the Second Breath, he moved at full speed toward the giant scorpion.

Sasori, with his five puppets, began covering the scorpions trying to reach Daigo. The puppets' swords moved swiftly to attack the scorpions' joints.

However, the danger hadn't ended. While the three ninjas focused on the main hive, a group of smaller, more agile scorpions—hidden in the shadows of the side cracks—detected easier prey: the blacksmiths.

The blacksmiths, loaded with picks and lamps, screamed in terror as three scorpions leaped from the walls straight toward the carts. Baki, who had stayed in the rear by Daigo's order, reacted before the first stinger could descend.

"Wind Style: Great Breakthrough!" Baki exclaimed, exhaling a blast of air so powerful that the scorpions were hurled backward before touching the ground.

Without wasting a second, Baki drew his sword. The blade gleamed under the lamp light. It wasn't just brute force; Baki infused his wind chakra into the edge, creating a sharper, invisible blade that vibrated at high frequencies.

A scorpion lunged at him with its pincers open. Baki dodged the attack with a fluid sideways movement and, with an upward slash, split the creature's metal body as if it were paper.

Another scorpion tried to attack from behind, but Baki—without even looking—spun 360 degrees, releasing a wind shockwave that severed the creature's legs, leaving it helpless on the ground.

"Stay behind me," Baki ordered in a firm voice. "If you move even an inch outside the protection circle, I can't guarantee your lives."

The blacksmiths, trembling but grateful, huddled behind the wind ninja, who had become an impenetrable wall.

In the center of the chamber, the largest scorpion—a leader specimen with a completely magnetite shell—charged at Daigo. Pakura launched two Shakuton spheres to slow it down, but the creature was surprisingly resistant, and the heat only seemed to enrage it.

Daigo didn't hesitate to strike the scorpion, though his stone fists seemed to do no damage—even with the Second Breath, it wasn't enough to defeat this giant scorpion.

"Daigo, its core is under the thorax, but I can't open it without it moving!" Pakura shouted, sweat running down her forehead from the effort of maintaining the jutsu.

"Don't worry—I'm going to bring it down. Take advantage before it gets up again," Daigo said, wiping sweat from his face.

Daigo quickly formed seals and sank into the sand to head toward the scorpion. Perhaps from below, it wouldn't be as strong as on its shell.

Daigo, sensing he was in the perfect spot, concentrated all the chakra he could into his fist this time. Emerging from the sand, he struck the scorpion's thorax.

From Pakura's side, who was using her Scorch Release sphere to defend herself, she noticed the giant scorpion seemed to fly as a powerful screech escaped its mouth from the pain.

Not wasting time, she controlled the intense fireball to direct it toward the scorpion—which, unable to move in the air, received the heat ball directly in what appears to be his weak point, as his screams increase in intensity.

Daigo, from below, saw the metal starting to melt along with the blood evaporating from the intense heat. He had to move away when he felt his throat drying up and his skin heating.

A few seconds passed where the sound of the fire doing its best gave way to silence.

Interrupted only by the hiss of cooling metal and everyone's heavy breathing.

Daigo, sitting on a rock, could only sigh—why there had to be metal scorpions in such a remote cave.

"Seems like the smaller scorpions fled once their king was eliminated," Pakura's voice came from his right.

"That seems to be it. Now we can have the blacksmiths take as much iron as possible and get out of here," Daigo said.

Baki, along with the blacksmiths, didn't take long to start collecting the iron.

"Sasori, looks like you didn't have to put much effort into this fight," Daigo asked, looking at Sasori, who seemed completely normal as if he hadn't been fighting minutes ago.

"My puppets could easily handle the small ones. Though it was worth coming—this mineral was exactly what I needed," Sasori said, holding the mineral in his hand and examining it.

"You mean the new puppet you showed me?"

"Yes. The main idea was for me to be inside and only control other puppets from there—more hidden with seals to block sensors. But this scorpion gave me the idea to add a tail similar to its own, made from this material," Sasori explained.

"That sounds dangerous. If you add senbon and kunai launchers, it would be even better—so while they think you're outside controlling it and search for you, they won't find you," Pakura said.

"That was the reason he wants to make it, Pakura-chan. Baki, looks like you had visitors with the blacksmiths. I thought everyone was with us."

"I thought it would be a easy mission from the report, but I had to defend the blacksmiths from a few that came," Baki said, wiping his sword.

"Well, with everything finished, let's help the blacksmiths. Pakura-chan, since you used so much chakra, stand guard. The rest of us will help so we can get out of here as fast as possible."

With that, Daigo, Sasori, and Baki helped the blacksmiths advance much faster than normal, filling the carts to a moderate weight—since if they were too heavy, it would be impossible to move them back to Suna.

With everything ready, they began the return journey to Suna, which took longer than expected due to the weight of the minerals.

It took them 2 weeks for a 4-day journey.

Arriving at Suna's gates, Daigo ordered Sasori to take the blacksmiths to the warehouse to unload everything, along with Baki and Pakura.

For his part, he headed straight to the Kazekage's tower to deliver his mission and collect his reward.

Arriving at the doors, he didn't hesitate to knock before entering and seeing the Kazekage sitting at his desk.

"Daigo, how was the mission?" the Kazekage asked, pointing to the chair in front of him.

"The mission was a success. Here's the mission report scroll," Daigo said, handing him the scroll.

"Did you have any problems on the way, or was everything normal?" the Kazekage asked.

"The journey was without any problems. It was when entering—as you warned—full of scorpions who mutated with the mineral, causing trouble. Though with the team, we managed to clear them," Daigo explained.

"Anything else missing?"

"There was a giant scorpion—it was the king or queen of them all. We defeated it, and the survivors fled, letting us finish the mission without issues and return to the village."

"Alright. Take the scroll near the door—there's information on how I created my Magnet Release. It's not everything, but if you need more, let me know and I'll give it to you. You may go," the Kazekage said to Daigo, who just nodded, grabbed the scroll, and left.

Not waiting to walk, he used shunshin to go straight to the training ground to open it and start reading.

Arriving, he noticed Pakura's figure sitting in his usual spot.

"Pakura-chan, why do you always seem to know where I'm going to be? Are you spying on me?" Daigo asked, sitting beside her and leaving all his things next to him.

"You wish I did that. I just guessed. Besides, I was curious what you got from the mission," she said, looking at the scroll in Daigo's hands, who could only shake his head at being caught.

"I told the Kazekage about my research to create a new bloodline for the village. But as you know, I was stuck in my research—so I asked for help on how he learned his," Daigo explained.

"So the Kazekage accepted that and gave you what you needed? Just like that?"

"It sounds simple, but Pakura-chan, you more than anyone know how close the war is. Suna needs all the strength possible, and if I achieve this, we'll have the advantage we've never had," Daigo said, looking at her.

"I understand that point, but no one hands over their secrets to just anyone, Daigo. You're not hiding something from me, are you?"

"As far as I remember, I didn't just ask for information to help myself. Stop looking for the dark side in everything. Let's read this—it's legendary-class information," Daigo said, starting to open it and reading aloud.

Scroll

"Many believe iron sand control is a gift of birth, but it isn't. The lineage I was born with is only Magnet Release, which allows me to manipulate magnetic fields with my chakra—though limited by chakra usage."

At Daigo's words, both were surprised and paid even more attention to the text.

"To create what I now control, I had to do a lot of research, and among it, I found something that could help me: the One-Tail, better known as the Ichibi. I observed how its chakra saturated the desert sand, turning it into an extension of its will. But I wasn't a jinchūriki. If I wanted that power, I needed a more receptive medium—and where my Magnet Release lineage could help."

"I arrived at the most remote parts in the west of the Land of Wind, where I realized the sand wasn't as simple as what I always saw. Instead of that light color, it was darker and different. I felt something from it, and the area seemed to have a high magnetic field, making it easier for me to control my lineage. As a jōnin, I asked for permission and secluded myself in those sands for a time, where almost everything seemed to have a high magnetic level."

"Seems you were right about the environment playing a part in the creation," Pakura said.

"I thought so, and with what you told me about your clan, I already knew it had something to do with it."

"The secret I learned while being there for a time is that the chakra was much stronger than I thought, allowing me to change the way I used it," Daigo continued reading, now more immersed.

"Instead of just wanting to control it, I tried to change the form of the chakra to make it more similar to the base of a magnet. At first, it seemed useless, but little by little I began to have the ability to increase the magnet's power to the point where the iron sand on the ground seemed to move at my will. Though using it in combat outside these sands would have been impossible at that time, with time I managed to control large amounts—even without spending as much chakra."

Daigo, seeing he had read everything, could only smile at this information.

"I understand now why he's a respected Kazekage—not just for power but also for research and creation. I didn't expect the secret to be finding a place that forced him to evolve his chakra manipulation. If he achieved that, I need to find my own extreme environment," Daigo said quietly to himself, though Pakura—being close—heard him.

"Luckily for you, I think I know the perfect place. By chance—and because of my love for the desert—I found it. Though you have to give me something very good in exchange to take you there," Pakura said, looking into Daigo's eyes.

"Really? You know a place like that? Pakura, tell me what you want—I'll fulfill whatever you want," Daigo said in a serious tone, returning her gaze.

"Daigo, I don't want jutsu. I don't want money. And I don't want your bloodline."

"Then what do you want me to do?"

"When you fulfill your goal of becoming Kazekage and gain a power in the village, don't allow Suna to turn its bloodline users into disposable tools. Not yours, not mine."

The silence grew heavy.

"My clan paid the price for being useful. I don't intend to lead anyone toward the same fate—though I love this village with all my life, I know what they've done in the past."

Daigo, at her words, clenched his fists. With his knowledge, he knew what she was talking about—and he wouldn't let it happen to his own. If he could help more, he would. He wouldn't let Suna become a Kiri 2.0 or a Konoha that ends bloodlines out of fear of their power.

"I swear it."

Pakura smiled—not a happy or fake one, but one that let Daigo know how important what he had just promised was.

"Then yes. I'll take you to that place."
