Conrad looked at the woman for a moment longer.
Her body lay twisted near the shattered window frame.
Conrad turned to them, Anisa and Adarte, after stopping to think about the woman and Maxwell.
They looked pretty much okay in terms of lethal danger, but it was clear that they were tired, and especially Anisa got hurt really bad.
She is not going to die, but she does need a medical team to look after her and stay resting and needs help for a few days.
That was clear.
"It seems like you two had your fun," he said to both with a grin on his face.
Adarte grinned back and nodded and shrugged.
Anisa gave a tired smile, one corner of her mouth lifting despite the pain.
"If you call that fun, I do really need to think more of my ability; getting slashed hurts," she said.
Conrad smiled in return.
"You don't say..." he made fun of Anisa's words.
He then added.
"They were two Nen users," he said.
"I dealt with the main one. Maxwell's body is over there."
He gestured with his chin toward the far wall, where what remained of Maxwell's body was.
Even a simple attack enough to kill him multiple times.
Due to the fact that he was not a Nen user, even a small emitter attack was enough to kill him.
Against nen users, especially moderately strong nen users, people who are not nen users almost have no chance.
Mostly, they are just simply not directed to them enough to pass them out, and if continued, they would lose limbs and then their lives, which can be seen in Heaven's Arena and people who encountered "Nen" when they first arrived at the two hundreds and did not know about the "Nen," such as Gido and Rievelt, as well as Sadaso.
"Adarte," Conrad continued, "can you clear this place out? At least Maxwell's body."
"The police will arrive shortly."
Adarte nodded immediately.
"Yeah. I can."
He rolled his shoulder once, testing it.
"I'm not that injured. I only dealt with some mafia trash..."
Conrad nodded.
He didn't ask for details.
His attention shifted to Anisa.
Her breathing was shallow.
Aura's leakage along her side told him she did not want to stay upright anymore for the time being.
"Let's get you a medical team," Conrad said.
Anisa didn't protest.
She knew her body better than anybody else.
As Conrad stepped closer, Adarte watched him lift her, his arm supporting her back, the other beneath her legs.
"I'll take care of this," Adarte added.
Conrad nodded once.
Then, as he turned toward the open corridor, he added,
"I'll show you a trick."
Adarte raised an eyebrow.
Three small orbs drifted back into the room.
They returned silently, responding to Conrad's aura.
They aligned beneath his feet, rotating once before flattening into a stable triangular platform.
"Hold tight," Conrad said.
He adjusted his grip on Anisa and stepped onto the orbs.
Then they lifted two individuals from off the ground.
The motion was powerful but also balanced.
It was a real surprise these small orbs were enough to carry two adult humans in such a balanced fashion.
The platform drifted forward and out through the open corridor, passing broken doors and cracked walls.
Anisa exhaled softly.
"Oh," she said.
"So you can use those small orbs to fly."
Conrad nodded.
"Yes."
The orbs carried them out into the open night air.
"It's not fast," Conrad continued. "And I can't go very high."
He adjusted the platform slightly.
"But it works."
Anisa watched the orbs closely, eyes following the way they adjusted position in response to subtle changes in his aura.
"That kind of control isn't simple. It seems like you are hiding most of your mastery from us."
"No, it is not easy." Conrad agreed with the first sentence and then added, "I usually don't like revealing my power to anybody; it is not personal."
Anisa nodded and said nothing. She can understand the actions of Conrad.
As long as there is not a huge amount of familiarity and friendship, Nen users would not like to tell their abilities to others or hide one or two things from them in case today's friends turn into enemies.
The platform continued forward, moving just above rooftop level.
Anisa was silent for a moment.
Then she said,
"So this is just your use of ability with different means, nothing like what you thought when you were creating your ability."
Conrad didn't answer immediately.
The orbs shifted again, maintaining balance as the wind changed.
"No," he said finally.
Anisa closed her eyes briefly.
He then added.
"Any Nen user could adapt their ability into auxiliary functions, movement, defense, and so on."
"That's why I don't rely on this," he said. "It's useful. But it's not what it's for."
Anisa opened her eyes and looked up at him.
"Yeah, the fact that you say 'Any nen user' makes everything funny in front of others," she thought, trying to understand the perspective of Conrad.
What he told her is not that easy, as he is telling her.
But she knew better than to comment on it.
The platform carried them forward.
