Inv wasn't actually sure. He had never thought of doing anything like that until Joey said it just now. Could he grow the ability to speak while like this?
This made Inv truly curious now.
"I-is that a no? It's fine if you ca- WOAH!"
With curiosity Inv attempted to form a mouth near where Joey was. He could feel the surface on the flesh start to twist in weird ways. But felt no discomfort at all from it.
Without really thinking about it. Inv was able to grow a mouth that was similar to his slugcat's form where he wanted.
Taking a breath of air which felt foreign to Inv's current form. He called out to Joey.
"J-joey?"
"Woah… Inv… are you alright?"
"Y-ye? I tink im fin?" Inv was slowly testing his new mouth, feeling slightly distorted from the new sense being added to his current being.
"You're not like… uncomfortable or anything?"
"N-nu? I fel… weally gud…" Inv truly said. Feeling at peace with what was currently going on.
He was able to show Joey his true self and he could still feel Joey's affection towards him… This was all he could ever ask for…
"That's good… so you can grow a mouth… think you can do eyes?" Joey asked Inv.
Inv thought to himself for a moment… if he could make a mouth… then he could definitely make eyes as well!
Pushing it into thought, Inv started growing 2 eyes slightly above the mouth he made. Again feeling no discomfort from the process.
With another sense being added onto his being, Inv slowly opened the eyes he made. Now able to see Joey who was literally point blank in front of him.
"Can you see me Inv?"
"Mhm… i se u…" Inv said to Joey, now able to fully enjoy the moment in this form.
But then Inv had a weird idea. Seeing Joey with 2 eyes was cool and all… but what if he had more eyes? Then he could truly see every detail of Joey!
Putting his idea to motion. Inv started to grow more eyes around the 2 eyes he made.
"W-woah! Inv what are you doing?" Joey said while looking in morbid fascination from Inv growing more eyes.
3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, 11-
'Ow!' Inv instinctively pushed down making an 11th eye. Feeling pain while trying to make it. It seemed like making 10 eyes was his limit…
Feeling the eyes grow in, Inv's vision became weird. He could see so many more angles of Joey.
"Holy shit… you're going all Lovecraftian on me…" Inv didn't know what Lovecraftian was, but he assumed it meant something related to making more eyes. Joey didn't seem opposed to this however?
"All those eyes don't hurt Inv?"
"Nu! I fel fin! I cant mak anymor tho…"

With his advanced vision, Inv looked at Joey. seeing a gentle smile on Joey's face.

"See Inv? I still love you" Before Inv could say anything else, Joey moved his head right to where Inv's mouth. Feeling Joey's lips press against his.
Although taken by shock, Inv quickly eased into the kiss. Reciprocating Joey's affection.

Pulling away from the kiss out of breath, Joey's face was flushed red.
"D-dang Inv, you still have that tongue too?"
"Mhm, et jus… sho up?" Inv wasn't really sure how it worked. All he knew was that he was able to grow a mouth that was exactly like his mouth from his slugcat form. Including his tongue and throat. Inv didn't question it. What was the point in questioning something that just worked?
"Interesting… well… you want to head to sleep Inv? Im starting to get a little tired and I wanna be ready for the next cycle"
Inv was starting to feel a bit drowsy… with all the emotions he had gone through with this cycle…
"Ye… me tir as wel…" Inv drowsily said back.
"Well, how you wanna do this? I can sleep on top of you if you wanna stay like this"

Inv was not opposed to the idea…
"Ye… i sta lik dis… i wil chnge bak da nex cycl"
"Alright, let me just…" Joey crawled up on top of Inv's form. Curling up into the ball like form he was earlier. Able to see Joey from one of his ten eyes. He could see Joey's limbs disappear just like earlier.
"You make a great bed Inv~"
"Tank u??" Inv didn't know what a bed was, but Joey seemed pleased, so Inv was happy.
Feeling Joey's head start resting against him…
"Goodnight Inv…"
Inv still didn't know what a 'goodnight' was but inv said it back anyway.
"Gud nigh Joey…"
Closing his 10 eye's. Inv slowly went to sleep. Feeling at peace now that everything was over. Joey finally knew the truth and Joey accepted him for it.
Joey loved him. Inv loved Joey.

Slowly, Inv opened his eyes. Seeing nothing but pitch darkness surrounding him.
His first thought being immense confusion. Didn't he just go to sleep? Why was he…
Inv raised his paws up to his face. Even more confusion settled in his mind. How did he have paws? Didn't he go to sleep in his true form? He shouldn't have paws right now?
Turning his head, Inv could also see his big tail behind him. His stick like arms were also there.
He was back in his slugcat form. But how-
"So that's how it works, huh"
"J-Joey?!" Inv turned his head to the voice. Seeing his partner in the pitch darkness. The bright pink of his partner's fur contrasting against the darkness.
"Yup, I'm here Inv" Joey immediately somehow appeared right in front of Inv. one moment he was a bit away from Inv and the next he was right in front of Inv! But how??
"F-fake Joey?" Inv said, not sure what to think right now. Why was he seeing fake joey again?
"Pfff, no Inv. I'm not fake. This is real. We're both currently asleep right now" Joey said, slightly bumping his elbow into Inv's side.
