Chapter 41 - Everyone is a Weirdo

Milo was brought to large hall with nearly two hundred sleepers. Each one sharply dressed in outfits that outclassed him.

'Legacy money... I want in.'

Milo sighed and found a relatively isolated seat amongst the sea of Sleepers. He kept his backpack close as well. It had the usual, some clothes, his personal belongings, and a good luck charm from Lucy. Well, that wasn't in his backpack. It was in the form of a small trinket hanging off of his prosthetic.

It was rather simple, just a small figurine of Queen Bee, but it meant a lot to Milo.

It was only then that someone sat down next to him, Milo tried his best to bite back his concern, this stupid flaw was getting to him. She was... well, frankly, she didn't look human.

She looked like a marble statue brought to life, skin so pale and white you would think it was marble. A slender figure, and glowing red eyes that were more akin to flames then actual eyes. She was also tall... so tall, Milo felt like a kid looking at a giant. She must've been around six foot at the very least

'A legacy no doubt.'

Milo looked around, he noticed that the seats the legacies had taken were a couple of tables away. Milo looked at the girl and then cleared his throat.

"Hey, the legacy tables are over there." Milo pointed at the table where the legacies were, the girl looked up at him. She stared into his very soul, then nodded.

Yet, she didn't move, she simply sat across from him, Milo scratched the back of his head.

'What a weirdo.'

Milo brushed off the encounter as best he could, yet his nervousness was on full display. The girl didn't seem to notice, or care at all. She was lost in thought staring at... what was she staring at?

Milo turned to where she was looking, and there was the same boy who stood at the gates, going around and talking to others. What was strange is that some of his encounters ended with him getting slapped, and another ended with him getting a rather mean looking punch straight to the jaw.

Milo began to silently pray as the boy started making his way to their table.

'Just don't let him antagonize you.'

Milo offered the best friendly smile he could and asked.

"Hey man, what is your name?"

The boy froze, a complicated expression on his face. His mouth opened and yet no words came out. His face changed from one of worry to one of relief.

"Sunless, but you can call me Sunny."

Milo nodded

"Nice to meet you, Sunny."

The three simply stood there in silence for a moment, Milo contemplating his life choices, Sunny was staring at the two, and the girl was looking at Sunny with intent. Not just intent, but also confusion and a little bewilderment.

She muttered something under her breath that Milo couldn't quite catch, then she looked at Sunny.

"My name is Eva. Tell me, Sunny, how was your First Nightmare?"

Sunny once again went silent, lost in thought. Then he responded

"It couldn't have gone better! I killed an Awakened Tyrant with just my spit!"

Milo rolled his eyes, what a load of bullshit. Not even Milo had been able to defeat someone stronger than an Awakened human, and that was because the bastard let his guard down. An Awakened Tyrant? What a joke.

Milo turned to Eva, expecting her to share the same reaction, she simply nodded along, belief in her crimson eyes. Milo was dumbfounded, no really, was this a joke?

Milo just set crossed his arms and laid his head down on the table. His ears taking in sound and pushing out sound. He heard impossible tales of killing an Awakened swordsman with just a flick of his wrist. That was until he heard his appraisal of the Spell, and more importantly, his Aspect rank.

"And... I have a- a Divine Aspect."

Milo shot up, and seized Sunny by the arms.

"You have one too?!"

Milo quickly realized his outburst and sat back down, cheeks burning up.

'Damnit! I probably caused a scene!'

Milo looked around, and some people were giving him weird stares.

'It's over...'

Milo voice came out as a meager peep.

"I have a Divine Aspect as well. Do you mind me asking what yours is called?"

Sunny hesitated, worry plastered over his face.

"I-its called... Shadow Slave." The last part came out as nothing more than a whisper.

"Ah, mine is Machine God. I can like, assimilate technology into my soul core, also I might be able to get multiple soul cores, but I have no idea how that's possible."

Sunny nodded, letting Milo continue to chat away about all the possible applications of his aspect and innate ability. All the meanwhile, Eva watched with shocked eyes. Milo didn't miss the near death glare Eva was giving him.

So, it was then that he leaned down towards me, and thanks to my attribute, I managed to stab him right in the throat. After that I climbed on top of him and continue-"

Milo looked over at Eva, seriously what was it with these weirdos?

"Is there... a problem?"

Eva eyes snapped into focus, and she looked away, shaking her head.

"It's nothing, just lost in thought."

Milo raised an eyebrow and turned to Sunny, but Sunny was already long gone, having made his way to the legacy groupie table. Milo thought to himself

'Don't tell me that little kid is really a legacy.'

Milo spent the remainder of the time in the hall listening to the speech of Awakened Rock. The difference between the Dream Realm and Nightmares was not one he had bothered to learn. So it was neat to know. Though at one point sleep over took him until the speech ended and he woke up to everyone leaving the hall and heading to their dorms.

Milo went to his respective room as well, tomorrow would be when classes started and he had no intention of wasting this opportunity. He sat on the rather mundane mattress compared to the one he had at home and stared at the ceiling.

"I bet everyone here is a weirdo... including me. Especially that little kid"

Away from Milo's eyes, a shadow slithered away and under the door. It had something to report to its master.
