Chapter 35 - You Don’t Have That Qualification

"Teacher, what do we do?"

Bai Jue asked excitedly in a low voice.

"Wait,"

Di Yao replied unhurriedly, the corners of her mouth lifting into a smile.

"Those rich kids are about to make their move. Why should we rush?"

"Makes sense."

Bai Jue nodded and looked down from above.

Sure enough, the few wealthy youngsters below were already itching to act.

Truth be told, children born to Festival Bearers had a higher chance of awakening as Festival Bearers themselves than ordinary people—

provided the parent had already gained recognition from their Festival.

Only under that condition would their offspring have a chance to draw a Festival's attention and awaken.

Even so, it wasn't guaranteed.

But even that tiny probability was enough for many Festival Bearer families to pass down their lineage.

Bai Jue didn't recognize these three youths. After all, he'd only been an ordinary person before.

But one thing was clear—

Their talent wasn't outstanding.

Otherwise, they'd have already made a name for themselves in Sky魁 City. Bai Jue would've heard of them.

From what he could tell, all three were only Rank One, though clearly older than him—most likely university students.

"Ghhh~"

"I want it… it's mine…"

"Kill… kill!!"

The undead roared and shrieked endlessly.

To them, the Darkflame Fruit was also an immense tonic—something that could drastically boost their power.

Bai Jue and Di Yao remained patient.

But the three wealthy youths had already begun moving, cautiously advancing toward the Darkflame tree.

Buzz—

Black flames surged violently atop the Darkflame tree.

Then—

The flames vanished completely.

The undead erupted into total frenzy.

There was only one meaning.

The Darkflame Fruit had fully ripened.

At that exact moment, the three rich youths struck.

Without hesitation, they plucked the fruits—one each—and instantly turned to flee.

But escape?

Impossible.

The enraged undead swarmed.

In just a few breaths, the three were completely surrounded.

"Tsk, these kids are really bold—and stupid,"

Di Yao chuckled.

"They didn't even consider how many undead there were. They just grabbed and ran. I thought they'd at least wait for the undead to start killing each other first."

Bai Jue smiled faintly, saying nothing.

Under the undead onslaught, the three youths fought desperately, using their abilities to forcibly tear open a narrow path, attempting to break out.

Seeing this—

Di Yao spoke.

"Xiao Bai. Go. Move."

"On it."

Bai Jue grinned, no hesitation at all.

He stepped forward and leapt from the tower.

Boom.

Dust billowed as he landed squarely on the escape route of the three youths.

He brushed off his clothes, looked at the wary trio before him, smiled, and extended his right hand.

"Hand over the Darkflame Fruits."

"You want them?"

The female youth frowned.

"Why should we? We got them first."

"Heh. Naïve."

Bai Jue sneered, Yin energy surging from his body.

"In a space gate, all treasures belong to the strong.

Just because you grabbed them first doesn't mean they're yours."

Boom!

One of the young men threw a punch, flames bursting from his fist as he blasted away a group of undead. He then stared coldly at Bai Jue.

"Brother, this is Sky魁 City's space gate.

If you're here, you must be from Sky魁 City too, right?"

"My name is Lu Yuanjia, from the Lu Family of Sky魁 City.

If you've heard that name, you'd better step aside and stop wasting our time."

"Otherwise—even if you get the Darkflame Fruit—once we're back in Sky魁 City…"

He didn't finish.

But the threat was obvious.

The Lu Family had real influence in Sky魁 City.

Making someone disappear wasn't difficult at all.

This wasn't the old world anymore.

But before Bai Jue could respond—

Di Yao's voice rang out from the tower.

"Xiao Bai, don't be a coward. Kill him."

"If he dares retaliate, I'll take you and wipe out his whole family.

Damn it—threatening my student? Who does he think he is?!"

"…Wow. Teacher. That's hardcore."

The three youths' expressions darkened instantly.

Bai Jue, however, gave Di Yao a thumbs-up.

Then he turned back to them, his gaze turning icy.

His arms spread.

A terrifying surge of Yin energy exploded outward.

Behind him—

Yama's Underworld Gate unfolded.

"Did you hear that?"

Bai Jue said calmly.

"If you did, then hand over the Darkflame Fruits.

Don't waste my time."

At his command, countless undead and vengeful spirits poured out of the Underworld, howling and shrieking.

"After all,"

he added lightly,

"my time is quite valuable."

The three youths hesitated.

Bai Jue lost his patience.

With Di Yao backing him, fear was meaningless.

He stepped forward and spoke a single word—

"Kill."

That one word fell.

The tide of undead and ghosts surged forward without hesitation.

"Damn it!"

One youth cursed and threw another flaming punch, destroying several undead and ghosts—

But they dissolved into Yin souls and returned to the Underworld.

Then—

Five Yin Enforcers stepped out.

Soul-binding chains lashed out instantly.

In a blink, the man's limbs and neck were completely restrained.

He couldn't move at all.

Bai Jue closed the distance in one step and punched without mercy.

Bang.

The man's face twisted in agony as blood sprayed from his mouth.

Bai Jue calmly took the Darkflame Fruit from his hand.

This was the world.

Strength ruled.

As Di Yao said—

With power, you take what you want. No explanations needed.

"One."

Bai Jue glanced at the fruit in his hand, smiled, and stored it in his spatial ring.

Then he looked at the remaining two.

The woman gritted her teeth.

"You'll regret this."

"Oh?"

Bai Jue grinned.

The next instant, a soul-binding chain snapped out behind him, yanking her forward.

She flew straight into Bai Jue's grasp.

His right hand closed around her throat, lifting her into the air.

"Regret?"

"I don't think you have the qualifications to make me regret anything."

"And besides—"

"You really think you would've gotten away even if I didn't show up?"
