Chapter 10 - Reinhard van Astrea: The adaptation. (Reupload)

The humanoid charged at full speed, using its body as some sort of projectile, but it missed and struck the wall instead. Creating a fog of thick dusty smoke.

Then, multiple debris suddenly started flinging straight towards me yet I made no conscious effort to dodge.

They've all missed, instead hitting the wall a hundred meters behind me. I've let my evasion protections do all the heavy work since I was deep in thought.

There was something strange about that wheel. It turned, and it did the most bizarre thing ever. It almost penetrated my divine evasion protection. The smoke cleared, revealing the hulking humanoid.

It took out a huge chunk of the wall and flung it towards me. With a single swirl of my finger, I redirected the chunk back at it. The humanoid was crushed beneath the huge chunk of wall, but I doubt it was defeated.

*Bang!* There it was.

I parried its strikes this time, sometimes with a single push of my finger or my palm. This thing was increasing its speed, and it could even go beyond its limits.

Whatever this thing was, I could defeat it, but I needed to know how it came to be in the first place. It wasn't a native here; it was summoned by someone, and I need to know why.

But I can't read its mind, it's blank. Its communication skills are limited to jabs and strikes. I then distanced myself from the humanoid; it was really persistent. A trait that I've grown to admire when it comes to my friends, but not my enemies.

It was chasing me now.

"Hm?" I noticed a lingering presence from afar while running. It was observing me, observing the battle with the humanoid. It must be the summoner of this humanoid.

I instantly dashed towards the strange presence. They noticed that I was coming but they were a second too late, I managed to take a quick glance before they disappeared.

It was another human. No, rather, it had the form of a human.

I have a good eye when it comes to detecting evil and maliciousness. A detestable energy that I can pick out from a crowd. Whatever she was, she wasn't good, and that's putting it nicely.

It was a human female with a tied red hair and strange, brightly orange eyes. She wore a white long-sleeved shirt and a tie. She was surrounded by rats, then she disappeared.

*Wham!* The humanoid that was chasing me has caught up, and I parried another jab. It's time to deal with this problem, then. I returned several high-speed strikes, aiming for its vitals. It collapsed, reeling from the damage.

The damage was so intense that it vomited.

*Clack.* The wheel turned.

Healing the humanoid. It slowly formed a grin as it stood up and towered over me. That's very strange...

It attempted to grab me, but I swiftly dodged its hands. With the same speed as before, I delivered hundreds of high-speed strikes again. It was able to take this kind of punishment, what a rather durable summon.

I wasn't trying to kill it. I was trying to reason with it. Trying to tell that I am way beyond its league, but it never listened.

This time, however, the humanoid was able, albeit barely, to tank all of my punches. That's strange, I increased the power, speed, and the number of strikes, but it was still standing.

The humanoid glared and imitated my high-speed strikes. It was shabby, but it was learning. I parried the strikes with ease.

The strangest thing in this fight so far is that my Dragon Sword Reid is quiet; it didn't see the humanoid in front of me as a worthy opponent.

It continued its relentless barrage of strikes, destroying the wall and the floor behind me with the shockwaves. It was increasing its speed and power. In the distance, there were thousands of observing eyes; they were familiar.

It was Mr. Jin Woo Sung, along with his shadow soldiers. He followed me here. He must've arrived to avenge his two fallen soldiers; what a commendable general. To care for the well-being of his soldiers.

I strive for the ability to lead and command but alas, I'm far too behind.

I am but a mere knight.

"Do you need help?" Mr. Jin Woo Sung offered, how kind of him, help is always appreciated. With an enthusiastic nod, I signaled yes.

The tall insectoid ant beside him leaped forward and kicked the humanoid that was overwhelming me with its barrage of strikes.

The humanoid was sent flying, heading straight into a large pool of water.

I instantly appeared beside Mr. Jin Woo Sung. "Thank you for your help; things would've been dire if it weren't for your intervention."

Mr. Jin Woo Sung looked at me with squinted eyes and a flat pressed mouth. I could imagine the 'ehhh....' coming from him, along with his shadow soldiers.

Do they not believe my words?

The fight between the insectoid and the humanoid was raging in the distance. That insectoid used an ice spell to trap the humanoid, but it easily broke free from it. The humanoid was getting overwhelmed by the speed, barely able to keep up.

The humanoid's arms were cut off, but so was the insectoid's leg but it healed instantly, and then the fight continued.

The power exuding from these two lifeforms was massive; it was shaking the whole place, and the waters all around us were now rippling in fear.

*Clack!* The wheel turned.

The insectoid was sent flying. I then instantly appeared before the humanoid; the insectoid saved me, so I'll save it now.

The humanoid punched, gnawed, kicked, and jabbed, but they've all missed. I parried effortlessly and I could sense the frustration. Maybe it was going to stop soon.

The humanoid also didn't suffer any damage, but half of its face was covered in ice.

*Clack!* The wheel turned.

There it is again...

*Thump!* A straight punch, directed at my face, has connected.

"Huh?" I could only mutter in shock. "Was it..... adapting...?"
