Chapter 3 - Comfort

"Show me your foot," she said. She looked at Li's foot.

"Did you apply any ointment?"

"No," Li replied.

Momo took the tube from the shelf and applied it to her foot.

"How do you feel now?" Momo asked with a smile.

"Much better. When I'm with you, I forget all my sorrows," Li said, smiling.

"Alright, forget everything. I brought your favorite noodles. Come, let's eat," she said.

They both ate the noodles. Li soon fell asleep. Momo covered her with a blanket.

"My wish is that you always stay happy," she said with a smile, looking at Li.

She closed the room door and left.

"I don't know how she got hurt. I don't even have her number," Zhao thought as he lay on the bed, when suddenly the doorbell rang. He opened the door and Momo came in.

"Where were you?" Zhao asked.

"I went to Li's house."

"How is she now?" Zhao asked.

"She was very sad. A piece of glass got stuck in her foot, and her parents fought again. They keep fighting like this almost every day," Momo said sadly.

She went into the room, while Zhao stood there like a statue.

"Hey, what is it? Whose call is it?" she said as she picked up the call. "Who is this?"

"Hey, it's Momo. So, are you not coming to school today?"

"No, yaar. My injury still hasn't healed."

"Alright then, get well soon and take care of yourself. Bye."

She hung up the call. She pressed the pillow over her face and lay there for a while. When she came out of her room, she saw that her father were sitting and drinking tea.

"Oh, you're home?"

"Nothing, tell me first—how did you get hurt on your foot?"

She came and sat beside him.

"Yes, it was made earlier," he said.

"Dad, please stop fighting with Mom. It's not good," she said.

"My child, I don't have that kind of patience anymore," her father replied.

"So if I get hurt or suffer like this, does it even matter to you? It feels like you people only care about your own lives. You don't even know what condition I'm in. It doesn't seem to make any difference to you at all," she said, crying.

Her father hugged her. She stepped back and stood up.

"If you really want to see me happy, then stop fighting with each other," she said, and saying this, she went to her room crying.

After a while, Momo came to Li's house. She was in her school uniform.

"Hey, Momo," Li said.

"Hello," Li replied with a smile.

"Here, today's classwork," Momo said, placing the notebooks on the bed.

"Thanks, yaar. You're really nice."

"Alright, I should go now. My mom must be worried at home."

"Okay, that's fine. Go carefully. Bye," Li said.

Momo said bye and left.

"At least there is someone who worries about her," Li said sadly.
