Chapter 11: Exploding Means Giving Up

A child not even six years old, being made to do a full five hundred push-ups. If such a brutally crude training method were placed in Li Jie xuan's original world, it would definitely make the News headlines…

But Li Jie xuan knew that for the taijutsu of the Might family, this level didn't even count as a warm-up!

"Come on—let me see just how far I can really go!"

As soon as Might Guy left, Li Jie xuan bent down as well. His entire body tensed tight like reinforced steel, the faint, still undeveloped muscles in his arms trembling slightly. Yet after only a few reps, a dull soreness began seeping out from deep within his bones. The reason infants are infants isn't just because they lack strength—it's also because their bones are soft.

  "Huff—!"

Li Jie xuan gasped for breath, scalding air slamming violently into the floor and kicking up clouds of dust.

  "183… 184…"

At this point, Li Jie xuan's mind contained nothing but these numbers. It was as if his very reason for living had become making those numbers slowly increase. Every meridian and every muscle wailed in protest, producing massive amounts of lactic acid to remind him: you've reached your limit—give up. You've already done so much; that's more than enough…

"No—don't joke with me! This is nowhere near my limit!"

Li Jie xuan's eyes reddened as he roared aloud. A new surge of strength seemed to erupt from his entire body. "189… 190… 191…"

  Then Li Jie xuan exploded.

His arms suddenly exerted force, and his whole body began pumping up and down like a tiny pile-driving machine. The number of push-ups skyrocketed as time passed!

  "231!"

But the moment that number appeared, Li Jie xuan felt as if gravity suddenly vanished. No matter how desperately his mind urged his body onward, there was no response at all—he simply fell straight toward the ground.

  The limit had been reached!

This wasn't Li Jie xuan's limit—but it was the limit of this infant body…

  "Two hundred thirty-one, huh…"

As Li Jie xuan watched his body draw closer and closer to the floor, about to crash into the dust, a pair of warm hands suddenly caught him.

  Might Guy was back!

  "Uncle Might Guy…"

Looking at the sweat-soaked Might Guy, Li Jie xuan gave a helpless, bitter smile. "I didn't finish the task. Two hundred thirty-one is already my limit."

Although he hadn't completed the task, Li Jie xuan felt no guilt at all, because he believed he had truly given everything he had. However—

"No. That's nowhere near your limit!"

Might Guy grabbed Li Jie xuan's arm. "The human body has no limits!"

Hearing this, Li Jie xuan couldn't help feeling unconvinced. "But just now, my strength was really gone. I risked everything just to squeeze out twenty more."

"No. Training isn't about risking your life."

Might Guy gently massaged Li Jie xuan's arm as he spoke. "Do you remember one hundred eighty-five? At that point, you were clearly about to hit your limit—so why did a new burst of strength suddenly appear?"

  "Extreme-point response?"

Li Jie xuan blurted it out instinctively.

Might Guy nodded lightly. "In fact, the extreme-point response is precisely why the human body has no limits."

"Every time you reach a limit, as long as you grit your teeth and endure, your body will always supply you with new strength." At this point, Might Guy's expression suddenly turned serious. "But that strength isn't meant for you to explode with—it's meant to let you hold on until the next extreme point…"

Saying this, Might Guy stared straight at Li Jie xuan. "Remember this: there is no explosion in training. Exploding means giving up…"

  "Exploding… means giving up!"

It was as if lightning struck Li Jie xuan. He murmured to himself uncontrollably, "So this is why Kai the Mighty Emperor is so powerful?"

Reaching an extreme point isn't hard. Crossing an extreme point isn't hard either. The only truly difficult thing is enduring the loneliness and suffering—using the new strength born at each extreme point to keep going, again and again, until the next extreme point arrives.
