Chapter 80: The Time-Rewind Ability

There were eight private-sector Devil Hunters present who had already fought the Camera Devil. Those who were injured had been rushed to the hospital, but they hadn't been able to retrieve the bodies of the deceased; it was a miracle they had managed to escape the gymnasium alive themselves. They understood the Camera Devil's ability well: as long as they stayed far away or kept their backs to it, they wouldn't face much trouble.

Among these private hunters, there were more than a few fanboys and fangirls of Shingetsu. In their eyes, the "Tsar" was handsome, cool, and dominant, with absolute strength to back it up—a person with universal appeal. Thus, they planned to sneak in through the back door of the indoor gym to watch the "Tsar" in action.

Meanwhile, Chiya and Shingetsu had already entered the small indoor gymnasium. Not long after stepping inside, Chiya used his Mangekyo Sharingan to clearly spot the Camera Devil a short distance ahead.

The Camera Devil looked like a giant, grotesque camera. Its lens was massive, at least four or five meters in diameter, with a withered mouth positioned just below it. It possessed a torso and human-like limbs, though they were mummified and dried out; when standing, it was roughly ten meters tall.

At that moment, the Camera Devil was devouring a human corpse, drinking the blood to restore its strength and heal its wounds.

Chiya wasn't about to just stand by and watch. His left eye focused instantly, directly twisting off the Camera Devil's "big head"—the camera itself. A spatial vortex manifested, transferring the head into the Kamui dimension.

Shingetsu saw Chiya demonstrate the same technique he had used during their spar. Seeing it a second time was no less shocking. The private hunters who had entered through the back door witnessed this as well. How did the Camera Devil's head just... vanish? The "Tsar" and his partner were still so far away.

"It must be some kind of devil power we've never seen before. But the Camera Devil won't be killed that easily..."

"It's drank so much blood; its regenerative power must be even stronger now."

"Oh no, I forgot to warn the Tsar! This is the Camera Devil's most disgusting ability!"

The hunters began whispering frantically.

The so-called "regenerative power" was actually a Time Rewind ability that the Camera Devil had acquired thanks to the empowerment of the Gun Devil fragments. It could rewind itself back several seconds. If the Camera Devil was perfectly intact a few seconds prior, it could activate this ability in a near-death state to instantly return to a "full health" status.

The private hunters had been tormented by this ability. Of course, it had a weakness: a "cooldown" period. It couldn't rewind time constantly. Every use extended the cooldown—for example, the first use required a ten-second wait, the second roughly twenty seconds, and so on.

They had previously used this cooldown window to wound the devil, but their casualties were so heavy they had to retreat and call the Leningrad Military Department for help. Now that the Camera Devil had consumed so much human blood, not only were its physical wounds healed, but its cooldown was likely reset or even shortened.

Sure enough, even though its head was missing, the Camera Devil didn't die. It activated its rewind ability immediately. In the next instant, it reverted to its state from a few seconds ago.

"Useless, useless! Jie-jie-jie! (Cackle)"

The Camera Devil let out an arrogant, grotesque laugh.

Otonashi Chiya wasn't aware of the Camera Devil's rewind ability, but his Mangekyo Sharingan was a space-time type; he was naturally more sensitive to the fluctuations of time and space than an average person. Seeing the Camera Devil suddenly restored to perfect condition, he intuitively judged that it likely possessed a space-time ability.

"This guy isn't simple. Let's draw out all of its abilities first," Chiya immediately warned Shingetsu. "And remember—don't stay in its line of sight for more than ten seconds. It's best not to even exceed three."

Shingetsu nodded slightly. For all his arrogance, he was willing to listen to a powerhouse like Chiya whom he fully respected.

The two launched their assault almost simultaneously with impressive coordination, lunging toward the Camera Devil. Shingetsu's speed was actually faster than Chiya's, proving that his physical prowess was in no way inferior.

Chiya didn't find this strange. After all, his "Strength" and "Speed" attributes were only eight times that of a normal human; only his "Vitality" was stacked exceptionally high. Top-tier martial artists like Kishibe or Quanxi certainly far exceeded the eight-fold mark in raw physical stats. As the strongest Devil Hunter in Leningrad, it was normal for Shingetsu to be faster and stronger.

Realizing this, Chiya remembered he still had quite a few unassigned attribute points.

[Ding! Allocation complete: Vitality +77, Speed +39, Strength +30!]

[Strength: 110]

[Speed: 119]

[Vitality: 400]

Having saved up 146 points in total, Chiya dumped them all into his stats in one go.

His speed increased noticeably. While he still couldn't quite catch up to Shingetsu, he had no intention of competing in a footrace; the priority was finishing off the Camera Devil.

Click!

Suddenly, the sound of a camera shutter echoed through the gym. This was the Camera Devil's offensive ability, triggered because Chiya and Shingetsu had remained in its sight for three seconds. An invisible attack, seemingly emerging from the void itself, struck at them.

Chiya was prepared; he had activated his Intangibility in advance. Though the invisible attack was bizarre, it couldn't touch him.

Shingetsu, however, was hit. Since the attack was invisible, there was no way to dodge it. He knew he had been in the devil's sight for three seconds, but he didn't care—he had absolute confidence in his Absolute Defense. Only Chiya's methods had ever caught him off guard; his defense wasn't something any random "cat or dog" could break!

Shingetsu only flinched for a fraction of a second after being hit. He remained completely unharmed and instead burst forward with even more staggering speed. A single Hand Blade swept out, decapitating the Camera Devil's newly restored head once again.

He carried no weapons; it seemed his hands were the most lethal tools in his arsenal.

Seeing Shingetsu standing there like he was posing for a victory cinematic, Chiya immediately shouted a stern warning:

"It's not dead yet! Finish it off!"

AN-
