Nora's POV
"What does that mean?" Antonia whips around to face me, her eyes wide with concern.
"It means something's going wrong with the transfer." My chest constricts, anxiety flooding through every nerve in my body. "I should be there with them. If there's a problem, I might be able to help." The sand in the hourglass suddenly reverses direction, flowing upward and vanishing from view. Antonia grabs my hand, her grip firm as she tries to steady both of us.
"James is protected," she says, her voice carrying forced confidence. "He stayed far away from the ritual site when they began the spell. If the demon tried to jump into him, it would destroy everything we've worked for."
"I know," I manage to whisper, my throat tight. We stand frozen, staring at the cursed hourglass. "But I should still be there. Something is clearly wrong."
"How quickly can you reach them?" Antonia releases my hand and steps closer to the glass artifact.
