Nora's POV
I reach for Ophelia's margarita and down a generous gulp.
The wooden stake I favor most sits locked away upstairs in my weapon collection. It rests at the bottom of the chest, but I know I could sprint up there, grab it, and make it back to the front porch in no time at all.
"What the hell does that bastard want now?" Antonia hisses as she rushes into the room.
"I believe his patience has finally run out," I reply, setting the glass back down. Renata sits beside me, and I scoop her up, pressing a kiss to the crown of her head. For years now, Winston has been needling James, hoping to provoke him into a violent outburst that would expose his true nature to the human world. The plan was simple: humans would strike back against him, and James would seek bloody revenge in return.
